Something on your mind? Chat about it here. I know, I know — color me 2003; I've never quite given up on bootcut jeans, and I think I'm in desperate need of some new ones. Although a fancy pair is great for when you have time to try on a zillion of them, I've always had good luck with Levi's jeans, and the price is so low that I've ordered them on the web without worry. I'm eyeing this pair from Zappos at the moment for $39: Levi's – 512 Perfectly Slimming Boot Cut (Indigo Rinse) – Apparel. If, on the other hand, you prefer fancier denim, there are a bunch of sales going on — Amazon has a 25% off sale on a bunch of denim brands, including Oprah's formerly “favorite thing,” CJ by Cookie Johnson; Tobi also has a bunch of brands marked down by 30-80%; ShopBop also has some great sales on denim. Where do you guys go for your best denim sales? Back to Top

Re: holiday decorations
I am on the mobile website, so I cannot reply. I was referring to decorations for my cubicle or section area (about 5 cubicles total with an empty wall and aisle). I had no idea that poinsettias came in a multitude of colors and that seems like a classy way to dress up the shared area for my section. I have a bit of a tendency to go to far with some things and I am shocked that I had never heard of the Giant Microbes. The Christmas set is so festive, but I happen to like the Mad Cow and Diarhea. I am also imagining the potential conversations that may evolve from one of the STD microbes, because who wouldn’t like a little “clap” on their desks :). Oh dear, as you can see, I have a real need for this blog and advice on professionalism.

I just got back from watching a football game on 2nd Avenue @ 81st Street with a bunch of guys who were pretending they were pro-NFL types, when they were out of shape slobs. The thing was, tho, that they had jobs and I am looking for a job, so I wonder do I really have to shmouze up to these slobs just to get an in at a job? My dad says yes, and my mom agrees. I do not want to do anything to compromise my chances, so I am hanging with these dopes. Is there any better way to land a job but to hang with these dopes? I am not doing anything else with them, but some of them think I am actually interested in them.

I think that really depends on the type of job you’re looking for. I’m pretty confused as to what you’re trying to achieve.

I would say…uh, no, don’t hang out w/dudes who are NFL poser slobs just to try to get hired somewhere. What about people who do what you want to do…social organizations, professional organizations and whatnot? Hanging out w/people you can’t stand just to try to get hired is not a winning strategy, since their mindset and “culture” is going to spill into their workplace, too, and your ick factor is not going to help your job performance. There’ve got to be positions at places that don’t require you to restrain your gag reflex – and ways to get hired there. Mom & Dad aren’t always right.

This is one of the trolls guys.. laura and nancy
Another Laura
Not necessarily. Anyone can post with any name. Someone named “Laura” has been posting here since before I started, thus my “Another” tag. Some of “Nancy’s” posts are actually factual so it’s hard to tell which is the troll or if there are two people using Nancy. I think there are several trolls or several people using other recurrent monikers. That’s why I think it’s good to post using your own blog ID as some posters do.

I would LOVE to see a post about holiday bonuses. I’m in a small firm, so I’m not sure what I should be expecting, especially in this economy.
Thoughts?? Thanks.
