– Refinery 29 has a great slideshow about fun color combinations to try right now. My favorite (pictured): oxblood and cornflower.
– Is it ok to wear yoga pants to work? Stacy London and I agree (we're both quoted): No. (Actually, I had a few caveats, but still…)
– Great on the Job has some suggestions on the right way to schedule a meeting. (It's trickier than you'd think!)
– The market's been in turmoil this week — the New York Times Bucks blog has some tips on how to fight the urge to react.
– Zen Habits has a nice roundup of cures for insomnia, for those of you afflicted.
– Finally – my apologies to everyone for the wonky site this week; I think we had two discrete problems crop up. The first, which I think is fixed (please let me know if I'm wrong!): I had set some caching settings to a higher setting than they were before, which might have made comments and posts not “update” as frequently (you may have visited the page on Tuesday afternoon and still seen Monday afternoon's post as the newest one there). The second, which I think is still ongoing, is a weird problem some folks seem to get if you've commented (or tried to): a 403 error that blocks you from the entire site. If anyone is still having problems with the caching, please let me know. Similarly, if anyone is getting a 403 error but has NOT tried to comment, please let me know. (It's hard to troubleshoot the second one because no one seems to be able to reproduce the problem.)

Can someone explain to me why the general consensus is that yoga pants at work = no, but a nice fitted tshirt at work = acceptable?
I don’t wear either to my business casual office, as I think both are too casual for the environment. But it seems that many find the tshirt to be just fine. What’s the distinction i’m missing?

maybe it’s because there are ways to dress up a t-shirt? i imagine a nice fitted t-shirt with a cardigan and a skirt that would otherwise seem a bit too formal for a business casual office would help tie the look together – similar for a nice t-shirt under a suit jacket or blazer w/ slacks. it’s not really the same with pants, in that pants aren’t layering pieces.

This makes sense to me, and I also think it involves fit. Yoga pants tend to be snug and/or clingy, especially in the butt. Not a good look for work.

I see lots of leggings with long tops over them. I do not embrace this look for work, but others do.

I wear slim-fit black pants (J.Crew’s “pixie pants”) with ballet flats and longer sweaters/tunic length shirts or boyfriend blazers to my job as a big-firm lawyer and look more put together than many people in pants or skirts with a “real waistband.”
I wouldn’t wear them to court, but I’m not giving them up. Sorry, Kat!

I think the problem is the definition of t-shirt. A lot of jewel neck pullover styled shirts, made of both knit and woven materials, with short or long sleeves are sometimes called “t-shirts”.
A fully fashioned, silk knit, jewel neck pullover is hardly a t-shirt but is sometimes referred to as that. Neither would a fitted collarless pullover back zip blouse from fine cotton. Both of these have been work appropriate since who knows when, both of these could be misnamed as t-shirts.

I wouldn’t wear a t-shirt without a blazer or cardigan over it. Even then, I’d add a necklace to dress it up.

Yoga pants are appropriate for work is one is a yoga instructor. Or in other work environments, actively trying to sabotage one’s career.

Oh, and the page still won’t load fully in Firefox. Sigh.

You might try it on Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. I was having issues with it in Firefox, but it seems to be working fine on Chrome and IE. Hope this helps!

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle request.

Hope you get it fixed soon! Checking this site on iPhone not nearly as fun!

Also cannot access from my computer at work. Same 403 error. It’s been happening since yesterday afternoon when (maybe) I tried to comment (I don’t remember the timing specifically). I’m able to access it fine using the work network on my iphone and at home in my home laptop …

Cannot access this site on my work computer. Started yesterday when I tried to comment; I got the “commenting too fast” message and then when I tried to comment again, I got the 403. Very sad.

Oh, and if it makes a difference, I work at a small firm so as far as I know, we have no IT issues re: blocked sites.

And I use chrome. Have not tried to load the site on IE, will try on Monday.

Same here – as of Friday afternoon, still can’t access this site from work, on either IE or Firefox. Getting 403 error.

Same 403 error, only I did not try to comment…

I have not been able to access your site at work for some time now. It happened when they updated windows internet explorer. I get the same 403 error. I can access it if I use Firefox.

I’ve been having ongoing problems with getting the “You’re commenting too fast” error when I try to make my first comment of the day.
