People don’t usually say “I don’t like working for women because I’m a misogynist.” Yes, they’re misogynists, but they frame it otherwise to themselves. By unpacking what misogynists say to rationalize their misogyny it is easier to identify in real life, where people openly vocalize their rationalizations more than they straight up admit to hating all women.

Of course you can unpack it, and quite frankly, I don’t care whether a person admits their problem (and it is their problem) or not. If someone says “I don’t like working for women because . . . ” whatever comes next is going to break down to something fundamentally misogynist.

So late to this, but I prefer when it’s unpacked. Then, we can rebut point by point and you have a springboard for further discussion, which could help change people’s minds. When it’s not unpacked, it’s like an impassable, unclimbable wall.

No where do they say, “We don’t like working with women.”
This kind of emotional reaction is exactly what supports this belief.
