I would like some feedback about a job interview this week. I interviewed for the job on Wednesday afternoon, sent a thank-you note Thursday morning, and received this message from one of the interviewers within 5 minutes of sending my thank you note:
[Job Candidate], I enjoyed getting to know you and better understanding your skill set.
We have some additional interviews, and I am sure [HR] will be in touch soon with any next steps.
Am I just getting the polite brush off here? I hate having to read the tea leaves and it is not as if I do not have any other options, however, I am not used to hiring managers replying so quickly to me (even when I did get a job offer down the road!)
ItI sounds more like a way to keep you informed on their timeline/turnaround.
I think you have a polite interviewer that liked you and wanted to let you know where they are on their end.
I agree with Mascot. It is refreshing that they ARE keepeing you in the loop so quickley, but do NOT read to much into it. Of course, you are smart and professional and you DO have the entire HIVE praying for your sucess! YAY!!!!!
I think that’s a good sign – if anything I’d read that as they want to let you know that even if it takes some time, it doesn’t mean you’re a no.
That Racked article is super useful! I was always under the impression you could use a mascara up to 6 months, guess not? Good thing I always go for those little sample and travel size tubes from Sephora. It also makes a good case for not spending a lot of money on cosmetics, unless you’re buying something you plan on using pretty much every day.
While we’re on the subject of throwing out dirty things, ladies, if you use one of those mesh shower sponges, or any similar bath accessory like a loofah, change it out often! Some sites suggest getting a new one every 6 months, I actually replace mine every 2-3 months (I often shower twice a day, which is probably why). Think of all the sweat, oil, and dead skin cells those things collect each time you wash. They only cost a few bucks, so do yourself a favor and swap yours out for a fresh one.
(I’ve been meaning to say something about that for a while, I cringe when I think of all the people who use the same pouf for years . . .)
Or throw the loofah in the washing machine? And is the sweat and oil really going to stick around with all the body wash one would use? And while they might only cost a few bucks to replace, what’s the environmental impact of continuing to throw away that plastic waste? I actually really hate that advice. Mostly I hate loofahs, though because they fall apart too easily.
Washcloths for the win.
Anonymous, I’m right there with you. I actually love the cheap multi packs of washcloths because they’re nice and scrubby. I’ve been using the same eight pack I bought almost ten years ago.
Count me as a Makeup Expiration Skeptic. I use most of my makeup products daily, and therefore I use them until they are gone — if it were really dangerous to use a mascara after day 89, manufacturers really should halve the size of the tube… a mascara tube usually lasts me 6 months, so no, I am not going to double my mascara consumption on the basis of a Racked article.
So, I’ve been trying to switch out my expensive make-up for cheap makeup whenever possible, and I find high quality mascaras (Dior) last much longer than cheap mascara (CVS). I don’t know if they last enough longer to justify the cost, but my CVS mascara definitely gets crunchy after a few months and I never noticed that with my Sephora brand. I’m still on my cheap mascara kick, but that’s the one product I’ve noticed the biggest difference.
The “expiration date” on cosmetics has gone down over the years, and now they’re pushing replacing items in only a few months. If you’re worried about bacteria, think about where the bacteria comes from: your face. How harmful can that be?
The companies just want to increase sales, and it works.
