(She went on to found Y-Combinator, one of the biggest companies for start-up funding, when she was in her 30s — and did I mention her background is a BA in English?)

  1. The article about cardigans is really interesting– I think context is key. I don’t think cardigans emit the professionalism needed for a court appearance or high-profile meeting. But for a training, presentation, or regular business attire? I think cardigans are a great choice.

  2. Eh… how are leopard print tights in the “Sexy-Office” box as opposed to the “Sexy-Party” box? And yet sweater knit tights are more party than office? No. Just, no.

  3. I liked the article about snow-day clothing blues. It was a challenge interviewing during snow season and I’m glad to know that others are experiencing similar struggles with looking polished.

  4. Funnily the WSJ tights article completely resonates as the woman next to me on the bus wears a conservative black dress, blazer, high boots with FLAME tights showing at the knees. Pretty sure this falls in the danger zone on the tights grid….

  5. My goodness, what a very unhelpful article about getting your coworkers to shut up. The only people who would comply with her requests-not-complaints are the sort who would never be yapping in the first place.
