Kat, the Girlboss article on Stress was SOOOOOO helpful to be b/c I get stressed out at work and have alot of these symptom’s, including the lack of sleep and the UTI issue.
https://www.girlboss.com/work/too-stressed-work
I would never have attributed the UTIs to stress, but I usueally sit alot at work and do NOT have time to get up to pee as much as I should be. FOOEY! Who knew that this could cause such a probelem? DOUBEL FOOEY b/c that affects my personal life as men are not interested in hearing about my UTIs, just that I am NOT abel to have s-x until it clears up — yet another reason NOT to be working so hard! TRIPEL FOOEY!
Ladies, I need help with shoes. I have recently developed some severe pain in my right foot. I’ve seen a couple of doctors and I’ve been referred to an endocrinological bone specialist, with whom I have an appointment in August. In the meantime, though, my doctors have advised me to try to find more comfortable shoes to deal with the pain in the immediate term. My go-to shoes are Cole Haan 40mm wedges, which I’ve worn for years, but I think I need to try something else. I need a low heel, and I’m an attorney, so they need to be appropriate with a skirt suit/dress. Bonus points for finding something that I can fit an orthotic into, as I think that may help with pain as well. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Beautifeel brand.
I have bad feet and you need a thickish rubber sole and an ability to switch in orthodics, Rothys have been good (no support though, if that is an issue), as is the SAS shoe called “Scenic,” which is remarkably cushioned.
I’ve had good success with many Aravons, but read the fine print for removable soles. Great success with business oxfords, some loafers and a ballroom-strap style low pump. Some of the casual shoes are comfortable and work with a 3/4 orthotic that does not extend to the toes.
Barking Dog shoes highlights orthotic-friendly shoes. Sites are getting better at adding that as a feature for shoe selection.
Anyone have any experience with Suitstudio? I’ve never even heard of them, but they have some beautiful pieces!
Hello, ladies! I am a recent law school grad about to start a judicial clerkship, and the chambers I am joining is formal. The clerks are expected to wear full suits every single day in a (very hot!) Southern city. I only have one suit that I have worn for interviews, and it’s not great for hot weather. So, I need a few suits before I start. And, I am on a just-graduated-from-law-school-with-no-paycheck-yet budget. I am tall-ish (5’9″) and busty, if those make a difference, but otherwise pretty easy to fit.
I am sure this has been discussed several times, but what are your recommendations for affordable and durable suits that can go through day-in-day-out wear? Thanks!
Get thee to an Ann Taylor outlet. The BR Factory suits are also pretty good too (a khaki cotton one I got there a couple years ago saves me in the summer in DC) and they have a website. But yes, outlet malls will be your friend for now. J.Crew Factory also sells its suiting online, though I’m less of a fan of it than I am of BR Factory’s suits.
Banana Republic wool suiting is quite good quality for the $ and has talls / longer lengths
Go to eBay or Poshmark! You can get complete suits for $50-$75 dollars. Some are used, some brand-freakin’ new. Go to a store and try on several sizes/styles and then go to eBay or Poshmark and buy the same brand/style for pennies. If you’re not on Poshmark, use my code (merrpg) and you get $5 off your first purchase and so do I. I’ve gotten brand new clothes there for a fraction of the price. They even have outlet brands. You can get purses, shoes, athletic wear, you name it!!
BR suit jackets fit the best for tall people, in my opinion. Go for skirt suits, they’re cooler. Also, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s sometimes have decent suits at great prices. My local L&T is a clearance goldmine.
