How do you handle going to the same gym as your bosses? My firm has a corporate rate at the gym in our office tower, so myself and many of my coworkers are members. I usually only run into other female associates and partners there (likely because the classes I do are mainly spinning, yoga and pilates), however, I just spoke to a young male partner (who I have a close working relationship with) about how he has just joined the gym and will be going to the spin class that I go to every week. Usually in yoga, pilates and spin, I am most comfortable wearing just yoga pants and sports bra. But it feels inappropriate to wear that when I’m going to in the same class as this partner who I work with daily. Do I need to go out and buy different workout clothes? If so, what’s appropriate?

I just wear yoga pants / longer running pants and a athletic T-shirt.

there is nothing wrong with what you are wearing, but I agree it is awkward to let a man see you looking that way while you are working out, leaving little to his imagination. I never show my boobies or tuchus to anyone at work, and worry that other women are doing this without even caring that it will cause men to day dream about having $ex with us. It’s fine to have $ex, but not with some dude who you are working for. The big joke is for him to have to say, “this is [Ellen] who works under me.” I hear this as “this is Ellen, who I’ve seen naked (or pretty close thereto)!”
MagicUnicorn
You are overthinking this. Just gym like you have always done.

Eh, a sports bra would make me uncomfortable. Can you add a top to it?

Just wear a shirt over your sports bra. Frankly, when working out with/near coworkers of any gender, most people (again of any gender) would opt for a shirt.

Or anyone if you’re in a gym. My gym actually started requiring shirts after an uptick in sports-bra-only gym-goers (I am assuming it was due to that as I never saw a shirtless guy). Doesn’t bother me, but I get why it would bother some and it’s easier to put a blanket “must wear a shirt” policy on it.

Wear a running singlet over the sports bra.

wear a shirt.

No thanks, NYT. Two-factor authentication is my nemesis.
