I read the Forbes’s Article about how women need to keep their financial lives in control in order to have their professional life under control. I agree that it is best to have both under control; I do note that I would not be able to have both under control if I had to do them both myself, so I have my Dad manage my finances so that I can focus on my professional life. I would not have enough time in the day to do both my professional tasks and my financial tasks. So Dad, by having the time and the smarts to deal with all of my finances, leaves me the time to focus on my professional affairs, including my work enhancements as a partner in a law firm, and my professional development, so that I will have options to do other things in my work-world in the future, including the possibilities of transitioning to a judge and/or a law professor, where I can apply the skills I have learned over these professional years, once I start to want to wind down to a more leisureley life. I keep thinking I will be a SAHM, but in order for that to happen, I need to marry first, b/c I really do NOT want to do the single mom thing, as that is to stressful w/o a husband both to pay the bills as well as to share in the child-care responsibilities, even if I am otherwise able to NOT work. If I bear him a child or 2, he will have to step up, both financially as well as socially, meaning that he MUST share in bringing up our babies. If we are to be members of the country club, I want the ability to spend my days there rather then staying home changing diapers–especially if he wants to play golf on the weekend. He can play if we have an au pair to help, b/c I want to be able to be at the country club also (tho NOT for golf –yuck!) I would love to spend my days at the club house by the pool relaxing on weekends. But anyway, happy Labor Day to the entire HIVE! YAY!!!!!
