  1. Hey, ladies — I have become to attached to my phone and rather than reading my ebooks at bedtime or when I can’t sleep at night, I am doomscrolling through Twitter or obsessively checking the news sites instead. Somebody in the morning thread mentioned putting her phone in the other room and having a dedicated Kindle device in the bedroom for books, and that sounds like a good idea.

So… which Kindle? It needs to be readable in a dark room but other than that I am open. I will only be using it to read ebooks. Which one should I get?

        1. Yes, the Paper White has internal, adjustable light so you can read it in the dark and in bright sunlight. I also have an origami style case so I can read in different positions while propping up the Kindle, and it’s easy to fall asleep while reading.

    1. I have a Paper White for this purpose and like it. I like that the light can be adjusted low enough that it doesn’t bother my SO sleeping next to me. It is also lightweight. Bonus points for being inexpensive enough that I wouldn’t be too upset if I dropped it in the bathtub.

    2. I have the Oasis and I love it. The bonus of having it be water-resistant is nice for soaking in the tub and reading.

    3. I just use my iPad though technically there’s nothing to stop me from internet surfing on it.

  2. Yes, I regularly read at night in bed! I looked up which one I have, it’s the Paperwhite 3 (2015) so it’s an oldy by tech standards. I can change the brightness, text size, font, and layout–and I do based upon my reading conditions (essentially, am I wearing my glasses).

    1. To add to that, and my nesting fail, I started with a Kindle Basic, but the screen resolution on the Paperwhite is noticeably better.
