Thursday’s TPS Report: Calvin Klein Crepe Shirtdress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Today’s TPS item was suggested by reader C.  We like the classic styling, the high-collared split neckline, and the flattering belt.  (We also think this is also a great example of a dress that will greatly benefit from wearing a slip beneath it.)  It’s available in regular and petite sizes, in black and ink; it’s $98 at Nordstrom.  Calvin Klein Crepe Shirtdress

Oooo: we’re loving this dress by Laundry by Shelli Segal, available in inkblot blue (sadly only available for the tiny girls) and in melon red (available up to size 6). Clean lines, solid patterns, a bit of interesting pleating, and a nice belt… lovely. It’s on sale for $129 (was $215) at Dillard’s. Laundry by Shelli Segal Belted Jersey Dress

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Paul Smith’s Pink Suede Mary Janes

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Paul Smith - S7LP-A838 (Pink Suede) - Footwear
We’re loving these adorable pink suede Paul Smith heels — that bit of striping, that blast of color on the sole — love it all.  We’d wear them with gray trousers and a very basic black blouse and blazer.  And they’re on sale at Zappos — now $187, formerly $384. (They’re available in black patent, as well.)  Paul Smith – S7LP-A838 (Pink Suede) – Footwear

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Elsa Peretti’s Bean cuff links

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
beanAs we mentioned last Friday, cuff links are something well worth spending a bit of money on if you enjoy wearing shirts with French cuffs. Although you can get nice cuff links for under $50-$100 easily, sometimes it pays to go for something a bit iconic. Our choice for this Monday’s splurge? The Elsa Peretti Bean cuff links, available at Tiffany’s for $265. Simple, fluid, feminine — gorgeous.  Elsa Peretti Bean cuff links

Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Brooks Brothers’ Non-Iron Fitted Bold Textured Stripe French Cuff Dress Shirt

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Non-Iron Fitted Bold Textured Stripe French Cuff Dress Shirt
Today’s TPS was suggested (independently) by readers LPC and N: this lovely classic, non-iron, fitted shirt from Brooks Brothers.  There are quite a few on sale at the moment in the “clearance” section and in stores — and with the free shipping if you order $200 worth of stuff (through 9/2), you can’t go wrong.  Reader N noted that she plans to wear her charcoal and white striped shirt (like the one pictured) with her tan suit — an outfit that sounds great to us.  (If you go for a French cuff shirt, we recommend investing in some actual cuff links — they’re far easier to use than the knots that come with the shirt.)  The shirt was $89.50; now on sale for $35.   Non-Iron Fitted Bold Textured Stripe French Cuff Dress Shirt

Thursday’s TPS Report: Commando Slipology’s 20″ Full Slip

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

iconThis lovely full slip was suggested by reader E, who notes that “Full slips are difficult to find, and are often too short or too long. These have some kind of weight at the bottom, so they always hang properly. Slips are not the most glamorous items, but they are often necessary to make sure your clothes hang properly.” Sing it, sister! Slips are essential with any kind of dress purporting to be a “wrap” dress, and they do wonders to make a clingy dress less so. And they are almost impossible to find in today’s day and age. This one is pricey ($88) but will last you a lifetime. Available at HerRoom.com. Commando Slip Commando Slipology 20 Inch Full Slip
