I don’t know if it’s a byproduct from growing up in the 80s, but here’s my dark, deep secret:  I often look at leather pants and think, “those are so hot.”  I’m told they’re horrible to wear, but somewhere on my fashion bucket list, there’s a hot pair of leather pants in there.  Anyway:  while browsing ShopBop I found these amazing GREEN leather pants.  Green leather!  And they’re cropped!  They’re kind of blowing my mind right now (more in a “whoa, these exist” kind of way than a “must have” kind of way), and I had to share. They’re, um, $875 at ShopBop.  Alisa Leather Pants

Cut Out Shoulder Circular Top in Many Colors - designed by Emerson Thorpe Something on your mind? Chat about it here.

Cutouts are one of the major trends I’m seeing right now, and while I feel like they’re often too sexy for the office, I really like them for the weekend. This circular blouse from Emerson Thorpe (available in a zillion different colors!) looks like it hits the perfect slouchy sexy note. It’s $190 at Singer22. (There are some lower priced options here and here). Cut Out Shoulder Circular Top in Many Colors – designed by Emerson Thorpe

Weekend Open Thread #2

1Something on your mind? Chat about it here.

There are almost 400 comments in the first thread and it’s only 12:30 on Saturday!  So I thought I’d open a new thread.  This time I’m recommending this gorgeous lip gloss that I got, which is my current favorite product from a Sephora gift set that was full of great things, sadly now sold out.  How much do I like it?  I emailed Auntie M about it, unprompted, to recommend to her (one of our favorite things to do is always to go to Sephora or Barney’s and play Makeup).  It’s this sparkly gloss that a) doesn’t feel sticky, b) stays really well (and doesn’t put sparkles all over your face the way some other sparkly glosses do) and c) is SUPER sparkly — the sheer, sheer pink (“Paiette”) is perfect because it makes your lips look nude but really shiny.  It’s so subtle my husband even asked once if I was wearing makeup at all when I had it on — he couldn’t figure out what was different.  (In fact, here’s a pic of it on my lips — you can’t even see the sparkles in it up close.) It does transfer a little bit when you kiss, but it’s pretty low compared to other lipglosses.  To me this is the perfect nude gloss to complement a really smoky eye for a night out.  The gloss is $14 at Sephora. OK, maybe I’m a little obsessed with clutches lately, but there are so many great deals… including this fabulous deco-inspired clutch from Reiss.  Love the magenta color and the faceted look.  It was $210, now $105 at Reiss.  Comet Metal Frame Clutch

Sophia dress in silk tricotineSomething on your mind? Chat about it here.

J.Crew has had the Sophia dress forever, which I think says a lot about the cut, the fabric, and more. Select colors are marked from $185 to $49-$69 — including black and a nice date-night red. Sophia dress in silk tricotine

Lauren Merkin Lucy Embossed Patent Leather Clutch Something on your mind? Chat about it here.

Last Call by Neiman Marcus has a number of handbags marked an additional 40% off already reduced prices, including this hot little amethyst clutch.  I just bought a clutch that I’m in love with, but this one is tempting me — that rich, saturated amethyst color would look great against a dark dress, and could even be a fun jolt of color to wear with a light blue dress in the summer.  It was $250, then marked to $180, but with the discount it comes to $108. Nice. Lauren Merkin Lucy Embossed Patent Leather Clutch
