Sigerson Morrison 2 Piece Buckled PumpsWe're liking the look of these buckled pumps from Sigerson Morrison — they're edgy without being unacceptable for an office. Love the slightly pointed toe, as well as the covered heel, and the diagonal buckle strikes us as kinda fierce. (We think the black is best for the office, but they are available in red also). They're $595 at ShopBop. Sigerson Morrison 2 Piece Buckled Pumps

  1. Please tell me that you are kidding. At least for a law office in a New England city, these are absolutely inappropriate.

    1. Another Perspective, agreed. These are a no go in my New England city, law office as well. They are a bit too fierce.

    2. They are fierce and awesome … and totally NSFW. I would consider something like them for the weekend, though.

    3. I think they’d be okay with trousers, no?

And again, what’s up with the Splurge Mondays price!?

        1. I’m in publishing in a fairly relaxed, liberal office.

I’m sorry, but they look like hooker shoes.

          1. That was what I thought too…short red dress, leaning on the bar…come hither shifting…!

          2. These would have been fine with pants in my NE law office. I mean with pants, hardly anyone will see the fierceness. Like wearing really hot lingerie to work- as long as people don’t see bring it on.

      1. Well, yeah on the second splurge Monday price this week, not on Monday! Maybe Kat won the lottery and isn’t telling us :). For an earthbound price, I think I would like these for work (with trousers only) and for ‘fierce’ date/party garb. I do wonder if the thickness of the strap might ‘stumpify’ ones leg or create a cankle-y type look?

        1. I thought Kat had said that coffee break pricing was intended to work backward from the TPS pricing–most expensive end of the week, cheapest beginning of the week.

  2. Maybe with pants. With a skirt, these would be a bit too fierce for my workplace. No one would say anything, but they wouldn’t think anything kind either.

  3. Appropriateness aside, this uber-thick black strap straight across my ankle line is the opposite of what I try for–i.e. it would make my legs look their absolute shortest. So even for cocktails, thumbs down.

    1. My thoughts exactly. The only time I wore ankle straps was when I first started working, and that’s because I needed training wheels for heels. Even then it was a very, very thin strap on a otherwise standard pump. I wonder who does find these flattering…

      1. Apropos of an earlier conversation: perhaps someone whose skin tone is close to true black.

        1. Or even sometimes, if you have really long legs, it actually looks kind of good to make them look a bit ‘shorter’.

          I’d wear these! They’re awesome!

      2. It’s not so much that I mind the look of a strap, it’s just that I love being able to slip my shoes off under my desk ;)

  4. I don’t hate them (don’t really love them either, though I do generally like Sigerson Morrison), but I am a bit amused that they’re under the “ladylike heels” category on Shopbop.

    1. That’s a shame. I love those.

Do you think it was the way she shoe was made or just a personal fit thing?

        1. me too. The Joan and Davids are a tamer version. The belt-like buckle on the Sigersons scares me a bit. They are a nice shoe to look at but I wouldn’t wear them

          1. I don’t know if shiny fake croc = tamer version…. At least it wouldn’t in my office. The shoes featured are sexy, but in an tasteful way. I wouldn’t wear them to the office, but I might on a night out. I wouldn’t wear the Joan & Davids, period. Too much going on for my taste.

      1. It was the way it was made. The shoe has a concealed half inch platform in it that made the toebox look kind of chunky and gave it a strange triangle shape. The thick diagonal strap didn’t help either. Macy’s carried this style and that was where I tried it on.

    2. I had a pair of shoes with a similar strap across the foot. They were uber-cute, but very painful. Something about the strap made my arches ache.

I like the Siegerson shoes, but not for $600. I can’t imagine a scenerio where I would spend that much on shoes.

  5. I wouldn’t wear these to the office, because I’d be roughly the height of an NBA power forward. I’d rock these in a heartbeat anywhere else, however…and with a skirt.

  6. I’d wear them with pants here in Chicago, but I wouldn’t pay $595 for them! I’d worry about the ankle-strap issue with skirts.

  7. Threadjack: MM and all the other Muslim Corporettes – Eid Mubarak! And I hope all of the Jewish Corporettes are enjoying their Rosh Hashanah. For the rest, please enjoy the relatively quieter offices we left behind – we promise to be back in full force next week =) .

  8. I work in a mostly business casual office in San Francisco (liberal everything) and I would not wear these to the office. Far too close to dominatrix shoes.

I like the grey Joan & David ones quite bit, though — I’d definitely wear those to work.

    1. I am with you on they grey Joan & David version. I would wear them with grey flannel wool trousers, a cream shell, a belted charcoal sweater, and some knotted black pearls on Fridays. Maybe even with a plum Hermes scarf under the collar of the sweater for a little color. Fierce but not too frisky!

  9. Does Shopbop come out with promos often, like 20% off or anything like that? I’ve been looking at a pair of shoes there, but would really like a coupon code or something. Anyone know?

    1. When they have codes, it’ll be displayed on the front page of their site. Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen very often.

  10. Threadjack:
I am pear-shaped with a big ol’ booty. I have held back the past couple of years on getting the kind of boots you can tuck skinny jeans or leggings into because I felt like they wouldn’t work for me – my butt would look disproportionately big. But I’ve seen them in quite a few fall magazines now and I am pretty tempted to get some relaxed suede boots and then wear them with skinny jeans and a tunic. Am I kidding myself that I can pull this off? Any tips for picking the right boots to wear this way?

    1. Yes you can, I have a similar body type. As long as your sweater etc. covers your hips I think it looks great. I make sure the top isn’t too form fitting also.

    2. I wear skinny jeans with boots. I’ve worn them with both more relaxed boots and tighter boots and they look fine. I have really pathetic calves so some relaxed styles look ridiculous on me because they are too wide. I’d imagine if you don’t have stick legs below the knee you can wear a variety of boots.

      1. I’m really busty, and I thought leggings, skinny jeans etc would over-emphasise my top half, but they actually draw attention away and look really good. I find I need fairly striking boots though – they need to be pretty fitted, which isn’t always easy to find given my cyclist’s legs.

But I’d certainly try it, and tunic tops are incredibly comfortable. If only I could find more that weren’t cut practically to my navel…

      2. I’ve go the stick leg thing going on and boots are a godsend. If I get really nice boots (read: expensive) then I take them to the cobbler and have the shaft taken in. Boots hide the fact that my legs don’t look like they can support the rest of me.

  11. Fierce is in, for shoes. I worked in a New England law office for years and I don’t see where a New England law office calls for tamer shoes than somewhere else! We were not tame at all.

  12. I love these shoes. Too bad I can’t wear that heel height, and they’d be much less interesting in a lower heel.

Most of my style is pretty conservative and unadorned, but I like buckles and hardware on shoes and boots.

    1. A friend of mine had similar shoes which she wore with a very ladylike suit, and I think the juxtaposition worked – maybe a skirt suit with flounces in the skirt, or a portrait collar? They look very walkable so I totally understand wanting to wear them with more than just pants!

  13. I love today’s pick! I agree that these would be absolutely gorgeous with pants!
