Was just over on their site looking for pumps with the sale. Love these! Advice on what to wear them with?
snakeskin for work?? these look cheap to me. I much preferred the kate spade purple pair previously featured.
@Marla – I would pair a different purple shoe with gray, dark cream, or (the right) navy slacks or skirt, and probably a white top with silver jewelry.
I usually wear my purple pumps with a gray suit or skirt. I love brightly colored shoes, but I tend to avoid buying until they’re in the $30 or less range since it’s sometimes hard to find occasions to wear them.
love these!!! thanks!
I agree, those pumps look so hot. I actually wish they were 3″ since I’m a midget. They would look great with a black pant suit, as almost anything. But, I also think they would look even more fab on a light gray skirt/pant suit, with a crisp white button down, too. That reminds me, if anyone sees a nice light gray skirt suit, please let me know. My first skirt suit had a stain on it that I can’t get out.
I don’t think faux snakeskin is inappropriate for work shoes– nor is real snakeskin for that matter. I have several pairs of (real) snakeskin shoes – particularly from Italian designers who apparently love using it.
Great shoes :)
I agree with bitterJD–I don’t understand the emphasis on things under 3″. Anyone who has taken the time to learn to walk in heels knows that you will feel much more confident in a 3″ heel. (I’m 5’3″ and find that anything under 2.75″ makes me feel matronly.)
I don’t at all think women who wear heels below 3″ look matronly. Rather, I think they know the difference between what’s appropriate for the office and what’s appropriate for a night out. Sometimes I think young women develop their wardrobes based on what they see on TV. There’s a difference between a costume designed for entertainment and a real life wardrobe that helps you progress with your career (or at least doesn’t keep you from progressing).
I agree fully with Cat. These look like they are from Payless or Target. I do love real snakeskin, though.
@MEG–I don’t think that everyone in shorter heels looks matronly, I only said that I do. (Although I do have a pair of 2.5″ satin Ferragamos that I love which I wear when I need to be dressy but very conservative–meet-the-parents-type shoes.) That said I do think that the vast majority of women project more confidence when they wear heels and as any number of books, blogs, etc, will tell you, lack of confidence and willingness to stand out is one of the major reasons why women are less likely to be seen as leaders and therefore less likely to excel in their careers. And as for costume-y looks, the height of the heel isn’t what makes it unprofessional–a 3″ black pump is much more professional than a 2″ platform!
And lest anyone think that smart, successful women don’t wear high heels, don’t forget Kathy Ruemmler:

Some people don’t wear higher heels because it kills their feet. It’s not simply a manner of “learning to walk” for everyone.
I’m all for purple pumps and I think snakeskin is fine for the office, but I am in the faction that thinks these look a little bit cheap. I also feel much better in heels in excess of three inches.
To the extent that high heels prevent me from keeping up with the boys when I walk down the street, into court, etc. (and they sometimes do) I don’t like them! And they make my feet hurt.
I agree with V. Life is too short to walk around uncomfortably. Also, I’m much taller than the other females I work with. For me to wear high heels on top of being taller than everyone else makes me feel like I want to attract attention to myself, which is totally out of character for me. I’d rather wear flats and play it low-key. Anyone else with tall issues?
I am tall and wear heels but usually never more than 2 inches. At my old job I was taller than one of the male partners I worked with frequently (at least in my heels I was) and he mentioned once that he didn’t like it. He was always self-conscious about being a “short guy” and when I was in heels he felt even shorter. We were also friends (I grew up w/ his son) so he good be honest with me. I keep that in mind now at my future jobs and will wear heels around the tall guys but if I know I’m working w/ a shorty I stick w/ flats or low heels. I also worked on a street that had the old-fashioned cobblestone. On the way to court one day my heel got stuck in the crack and everyone had to stop while I dislodged myself. Not sexy.
PS: I’m not sure how heels are measured but when I gave my dimensions I was talking about the actual spike, not floor to top of shoe.
a great looking pair of flats or low heels makes me feel just as confident as a 3 inch pair of heels. actually, i only own one pair of 3 inch heels and that’s as high as i’ll go. i like to be able to move quickly and comfortably and it’s just not worth the back problems and sore feet.
Haven’t tried these on, but in my experience, Bandolinos seem to be among the most comfortable mid-price heels. The construction and placement of the heel seems very well done in most of the styles.
Tall girl here. I often wear heels, and many days I wear flats or kitten heels too. I like to wear heels to weed out short men (socially), but at work, I concur with the poster who mentioned that tall women make some short men insecure. It is what it is–if I know a guy is sensitive about his height, or me, in 3 inch heels means that I am an Amazonian six or so inches taller, then I choose flats.
I also think these heels look cheap. AND ENOUGH WITH THE PURPLE SHOE OBSESSION ALREADY. ENOUGH!
Oooh, I just checked and they have these shoes at $39.99 now. The downside is that they only have a few sizes left.
I’m another tall girl. I feel unfeminine in flats, but I’m too tall for really high heels (unless I’m trying to look intimidating). I really have to search to find shoes that are stylish, not too high, and also work appropriate.
5’10 here too… I love my flats but I also wear heels from kittens up to 4″ to work too. Yes it makes me very tall but I’ve yet to run across a colleague that is uncomfortable with it. An adversary? Yes, but that’s a good thing! ;) I’d be upset if a shorter male co-worker told me I was too tall because I’ve embraced my height all my life. Good heavens do you think he would say the same thing to a taller man? Don’t think so. That man has more issues than just his height. Bring on the choos!!
