Finance TJ. Has anyone frozen their credit? I’m interested in repairing my credit score, mostly by paying down my CCs, in the hopes of buying a house someday. This is a long term plan so I’m wondering if I should freeze my credit to make sure nothing goes wrong in the meantime, but I am not sure if this is just me trying to find things to do when there is nothing for me to do except take the time to pay down my debts.

Are you prone to opening up new lines of credit spontaneously? Or is this just a double preventative measure against identity theft? A freeze only affects new lines of credit, I believe. So if someone steals an existing card number, they can still run it up and cause havoc.

Double preventative. Good call about the existing lines… I don’t want to close them because I want to keep my use ratio as low as possible so they’d still be a risk… I didn’t think about that.
