  1. Need help processing an organization announcement. I am 1 of 3 managing counsels for 3 distinct countries for the international business of the company, reporting directly to XY, Deputy GC. The company has announced XY as the next GC (current GC and CLO retiring). XY approached me to let me know that AB, one of other Managing counsels for the international assets, will take on a newly created role of International Lead to whom I will now be reporting (along with the other international MC). I am … not happy. AB is the most “politically savvy” of all of us, I’ll give him that. He is also the least practical, knowledgeable, and experienced of all of us and I am having a hard time digesting that I will have to ask directional guidance from someone that… as bad as that sound, I don’t respect as a lead (I don’t know much about him personally, have always maintained a healthy professional distance, don’t care to know him more than necessary but I am sure he is a fine human. I’ll venture to say that he would say the same about me). Has that happened to you and how did you manage that relationship?
