Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend. If you're a fan of prints, get the best quality clothes you can afford — preferably designer. There are two reasons for this: first, prints are more memorable, and you'd surely prefer everyone thinking, “Oh, there's Susie wearing her St. John blouse again,” rather than, “Geez, Susie loves that Old Navy top.” Furthermore, you frequently get what you pay for with designer prints in that the details of the garment, like the seams, are designed to work with the print. In any event, we love this yellow paisley top from SoCa St. John — the twist in the neckline, the delicate but bold print… We'd wear it with trousers, untucked, with a cropped jacket, or perhaps beneath a skirt suit. Beautiful. It's on pre-sale at Nordstrom for $225. SoCa St. John Abstract Paisley Print Top

Oh my god the walks down memory lane you guys bring me. In the mid-80’s I had this silk satin blouse, it was a dark french blue with purple ovals and lime/olive green circles on it. Despite the horrific description, it was the greatest damn shirt I ever wore to work. It was expensive. I wish I could remember the designer but heck if that was all I had forgotten of those days I would be happy…
Hmmm. It looks great on that model, who appears to be about 5’10 and 100 pounds. I wonder how it would look on someone of normal weight. I wish clothes were modeled on average-size people–it would make shopping so much easier.
Agree with CS – this looks great on the model, but I have to think it would look horrific on me! Sad.
So agree about buying designer prints! I love prints, but can never find one I can commit to. The odd time I find a designer one I can afford, I’m in heaven. And I think it would be fine on a larger body, it sits nicely on the hips. Pants that fit you well and smoothly on the hips, or a straight skirt, very nice. I like that the neck is fairly high, so well-endowed women would feel comfortable in it at work.
