Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Oooh: cute lightweight “tweed” dress from Banana Republic. I normally think of tweed as being a heavier fabric with different wools (and Wikipedia kind of backs me up), but I like the idea of making a woven dress in a … Read More about Wednesday’s TPS Report: Tweed Lena Dress
Coffee Break – Envelope Laptop Case in Faux Croc Effect
Cute laptop case! I’m not sure how much insulation and padding there is, but I do think the envelope styling and blue croc looks smart, and would be great if you had a few items to bring to the meeting with you (e.g., a few post-its, a few sheets of paper, maybe an ID card … Read More about Coffee Break – Envelope Laptop Case in Faux Croc Effect
Love, Marriage, and Pre-Nups
Reader C has a great question about how to deal with her fiance, who wants her to sign a pre-nuptial agreement… should she sign a pre-nup, readers?
Tuesday’s TPS Report: Bromely Blazer
Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. I love this blazer. The ivory color seems just right, as does the tweed-like piping on the edges, the (flattering!) patch pockets, and the bracelet-length sleeves. Gorgeous, gorgeous. I would pair this with a simple, solid-colored tank or tee, and … Read More about Tuesday’s TPS Report: Bromely Blazer
Coffee Break: Hot Girls Pearls
These “pearl” bracelets and necklaces are filled with a non-toxic icy gel that can be frozen to keep you cool. I saw them touted in O:The Oprah Magazine as a great way to make it through menopausal hot flashes, but I think they’d be great for hot, sticky summer mornings in the subway. I prefer … Read More about Coffee Break: Hot Girls Pearls
The Hunt: Raincoats & Lightweight Jackets
Sure, we all know what basics professional women are supposed to have in their closets, but if you’re buying one for the first time or replacing one you’ve worn into the ground, it can be a pain to find exactly the right incarnation in stores. In “The Hunt,” we search the stores for a basic … Read More about The Hunt: Raincoats & Lightweight Jackets
Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Slate and Purple V-Neck Cardigan
Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Love this cotton v-neck cardigan from Etro — particularly the trim of purple and orange. While I do wish it were a more luxurious fabric (<cough>, silk or cashmere, <cough>), I think the weave looks even, tight, and high quality. … Read More about Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Slate and Purple V-Neck Cardigan
Weekend Open Thread
Something on your mind? Chat about it here. Maybe I’m hormonal, but I really, really like this skirt. Yes, it’s fluorescent pink (fine, “Rose-Lilac”) but it looks like a great skirt to wear for a leisurely day — at the movies, maybe slouching through a few stores, and possibly grabbing mid-afternoon drinks with friends. It … Read More about Weekend Open Thread

Frugal Friday’s TPS Report: Tartlet Burst Top
Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. This strikes me as a really fun top for a casual workday. The extra strip of fabric gives it a bit of an asymmetrical look from afar, but up close it has almost a keyhole effect. I’d wear it with … Read More about Frugal Friday’s TPS Report: Tartlet Burst Top
Coffee Break – ‘Quilting Tribeca’ Satchel
Love this “quilting Tribeca” satchel from Marc Jacobs. It’s simple, elegant, and big enough to actually fit a ton of stuff (15.5″Wx11″Hx6″D). I do wish it were lined in a lighter fabric (so much easier to see inside the bag!) but maybe that’s just me. It’s $1,395 at Nordstrom. MARC JACOBS ‘Quilting Tribeca’ Satchel (L-2)
