Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Ruffle Panel Front Top

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

The Limited has had some great work pieces lately — tops and dresses — and this lovely ruffle panel front top is no exception.  We love it (love it!) paired with the white skirt; it might be interesting to try with a beige skirt also for the beige-on-beige trend going on right now.  We might wear it with a pop of color, perhaps from a turquoise and gold cuff, worn high on our forearm.  This top is part of the sale going on right now at The Limited (30% off tops, online only), so the price comes to $27.65 (was $39.50).   Ruffle Panel Front Top

Thursday’s TPS Report: Cotton-wool ruffled placket cardigan

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Cotton-wool ruffled placket cardiganWe saw this sweater in a J.Crew email the other day and immediately wanted it. Something about the ruffled placket strikes us as, well, perfect — it’s not too ruffly and won’t make a big bust look bigger, and it’s one of the only possibly appropriate ways that we’ve seen to wear tulle to the office.  We favor the darker colors, of course — the navy, purple — and slightly wish they hadn’t banded it at the bottom.  But otherwise:  great cardigan from J.Crew.  Available for $88 in heather stone (pictured), black, navy, “wild mushroom” (brown), and “orchid shadow” (purple).  Cotton-wool ruffled placket cardigan

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Belted Top

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

iconiconReader A writes in to tip us off to this faux wrap top at Nordstrom, noting: “lovely colour, cotton silk means it can be handwashed & versatile design! I don’t like wraps as they keep shifting on me, but the faux wrap should work well…”  We do like this one, and this deep wine color will be perfect for what we call “later summer colors,” when we put away our pastels and pull out our t-shirts and short-sleeved blouses in deep reds, browns, and purples.  We see this piece working well almost anywhere, but if we were being creative we might try it over a V-necked or scoop-necked sheath dress.  It’s $138 at Nordstrom, available in sizes XS to XL.  Classiques Entier® Belted Top

Tuesday’s TPS Report: Black Wool Blend 2-button Ruched Sleeve Blazer

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

William Rast black wool blend 2-button ruched sleeve blazerJune can be a great time to stock up on clothes for the other three seasons, and along those lines, we’re loving this wool ruched blazer by William Rast, on sale at Bluefly.  The ruching detail on the sleeves strikes us as fun, and we love the flattering darts in the front.  The sale price is great, as well — was $379, marked to $227 by Bluefly.  (Today they’re offering an extra 10% off everything, too, so the price goes to $204.30.)  William Rast black wool blend 2-button ruched sleeve blazer

Coffee Break: L. Erickson Ponytail Holder

6With summer nearing, many women will be looking for ways to put back their hair in ways that are neat and cool — and intentional.  For us, the difference between “I didn’t have time to wash my hair today” and “I thought I’d wear my hair in a pony today” is all about the pretty ponytail holder.  We have this in red, and have always thought it looked great against dark hair — not too little-girl, not too fancy.  They’re $15 each at FranceLuxe.  L. Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Jacquard Jaden Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Jacquard Jaden Dress by Jason WuKirna Zabete has their summer sale going on, with prices up to 30% off designer duds like this lovely Jason Wu dress.  We like the ladylike cut — the high bateau neckline, the roomy ballet sleeves, the knee-length A-line skirt — and we love the designer details, like the semi sheer hem and the woven jacquard fabric.  Lovely.  It’s significantly reduced — now $688.50, was $2295.  Alas, lucky sizes only.  Jacquard Jaden Dress
