Happy 2018!!! Let the month of incorrectly writing “2017” (if not a random other year) on your checks and paperwork commence! I hope everyone is having a chill day with families and friends, planning your goals for the year, recovering from the holidays, and generally prepping for the workweek — I thought I'd take a look at some of the sales going on right now. The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale continues until tomorrow… there's a big Dillards sale that I always note — and several other places have extra discounts (sale on sale!) for today, so it's well worth a look. What are you on the hunt for?

Recs for Vacation in South
Looking to plan a vacation in the South in February for DH and I. We like to hike, bike, kayak, and stay at B&Bs. I was thinking of someplace in Louisiana, NC, SC, VA, etc. Anyone have recommendations?
NOLA
Have you looked at New Iberia, LA?
NOLA
Oh and also the Cypress Bend Resort is a possibility. It’s right on the Toledo Bend Lake, west of Natchitoches, LA. It’s out in the middle of nowhere (30 min to any restaurant) but it’s beautiful and there is great hiking. I was there once for a conference and we really enjoyed hiking during our time off. I think it was fairly new then, so everything wasn’t developed.

You may want to try Pine Bluff, AK. Nice country, tho there are a lot of Duck Dynasty types that act like they haven’t seen a woman in years.
???
Are you talking about Pine Bluff, Arkansas? (I ask because AK is the abbreviation for Alaska, and there is actually a Pine Bluff, Arkansas).
If so, OP–do not do this. It has nothing you’ve listed, and is neither cute, nor a vacation destination. It’s just a city where people live. And not a nice one.

I’m completely obsessed with Asheville NC. The weather in February is hit or miss though (as it will be pretty much anywhere in VA or NC).
Anon prof
A day late to this, but maybe you’ll check back. I’d strongly recommend against Asheville that time of year if you want to do outdoor activities. We got caught in an unexpected storm there on NY Eve and the roads were a disaster. The weather there seems to change very quickly–a few years ago we went skiing one day and the next day was positively balmy.
Idea
We went to Savannah for Valentines once. Very cute, kinda cold but not too bad.

Happy New Year to the HIVE! I would go to a few sale’s today, but the manageing partner has upped my hours to 7900 this year. FOOEY! This will mean less time then EVER to do things I want to do, and more billeing for the firm. The ONLEY saveing grace is that this year, the manageing partner is goeing to be adding MY name to the firm’s letterhead!!!! Of course it will be last on the list, but still, dad is VERY proud of me, and he is now happy that I did NOT marry. Dad and Grandma Leyeh consider the Barshevsky name to be Dad’s legacy which would NOT have been preserved had I married Sheketovits!
I agree b/c Sheketovits wanted HIS name to be used on our marrage certificate, or at least a hypenated name with HIS being last. Moreover, the manageing partner also said he would NEVER add “BARSHEVSKY-SHEKETOVITS” to the firm letterhead. So mabye NOT getting married was a good thing for me after all! For all of the others in the HIVE, use ME as an example when you talk to your fathers about why you are NOT getting married after all! YAY!!!!!
