Cole Haan - Genevieve Small Carpet Bag (Laquer Red) - Bags and Luggage We love this large satchel/tote (8″ shoulder drop) from Cole Haan, with its woven leather exterior, and rich, sophisticated red color — we even love the name of the red:  Lacquer Red. Like all Cole Haan bags there are special pockets inside for your technology, and the bag is roomy enough that you should be able to fit everything else, as well. It's $431 at Zappos. 1. For me, there has to be two separate bags. Bag #1 = is my purse, with my own personal stuff. Bag #2 = papers, books, pens, work stuff. Never the twain shall met.

  1. It is pretty, but I don’t understand how I can love Cole Haan shoes so much yet feel so lukewarm towards their hand bag collection.

    1. I agree in general, although I like this bag more than most of their collection. I might like them more if I didn’t know Bottega existed – I don’t like how CH’s weave has a swirly pattern within it.

    2. Me too.

And, I’ve never been a fan of woven leather, probaly because I first saw it on casual shoes for middle age men.

  2. Grr..that looks waay too much like the Kindle cover that was never stocked!!!

      1. Thanks…I ordered one when they first came out, was on back order and then I got an email saying, not available…. I ended up getting a different leather one….

  3. I think it’s beautiful, but woven leather seems spring/summer to me. Does it hit other people that way?

    1. It depends on the material and color. My winter bag is a deep purple woven Cole Haan bag. It’s patent leather and suede woven together, and it is very wintery.

  4. I’m kind of in love with that bag. Personally, I love a red purse – as a pop of color, I think it can work with most outfits. Makes me seriously wish I wasn’t a broke-@$$ law student and could afford a beautiful bag like that. Le sigh.

  5. I think a red purse, particularly a deep shade like this, is a good way to have something you are remembered for stylewise. You can still go all proper on everything else.
