Suit of the Week: Albert Nipon

Albert Nipon Tweed SuitFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. OK: let’s ignore the model, who perhaps had a Big Gulp before they started the shoot. Or something. Anyway: I like this suit. It’s just a leeetle bit different — the slight flounce to the jacket, the wide cuffs on the blazer, and the lovely texture to the tweed. It’s $395 at Neiman Marcus. Albert Nipon Tweed Suit

I am normally not a fan of the short-sleeved suit, but every so often one comes along that really looks gorgeous.  I love the nipped-in waist look to this one, as well as the wide, short short sleeves.  The website doesn’t explain “Cool Wool,” but I like the idea of it — short-sleeved suits in general are great for when it’s blisteringly hot outside.  Was $280, now $98, available at Neiman Marcus (limited sizes only). We are seeing red suits everywhere this season, from White House|Black Market to St. John’sicon. While they can be tricky for many women to wear (especially younger women), for some, there’s nothing better than a red suit. We like this fabulous one from Albert Nipon — love the split neck and almost decorative neckline, the cinched waist, and pick-stitched trim. While we still wish it came in black or gray (dare to dream!), it’ also strikes us as having a very reasonable price for what can be a very distinctive look — it’s $320 at Neiman Marcus, sizes 2-18.  Belted Split-Neck Skirtsuit

albert niponWe know, we know: not everyone here is a size four. But if you ARE, then it is your lucky day, because that is the only size left available for this week’s Suit of the Week. (We normally don’t like to be so exclusive, but, hello, the suit was gorgeous and the only one even slightly interesting this week.) This lovely Albert Nipon suit in the almost-neutral color of raisin has clean, flattering lines — in fact, it is so clean that we can even let the tonal trim pass, despite the fact that it might be interpreted as frilly on any other suit. And the discounts, ye gods! It was marked at $380 at Neiman Marcus, but is now marked at $152. Take another 25% off at checkout, and it comes down to $114. Lovely.  Albert Nipon Pleated Suit

P.S. Please try to ignore the small furry handbag the model is carrying.
