Longchamp Le Pliage Neo ToteMaybe it is news to no one but me, but I haven't seen the colored Longchamp bags with matching leather straps. (Last I remember noticing they still had brown straps widely available online.) I much prefer the more streamlined look, and I think the purple is a lovely, versatile color (but of course I do). The pictured bag is $180 at Nordstrom. Longchamp Le Pliage Neo Tote

  1. I have this in the medium size (carried it to work today) and highly recommend it. The purple is beautiful and versatile and the material is heavier/more durable than the standard Le Pliage nylon. The detachable strap makes it more versatile, so it’s already traveled to multiple continents with me. Highly recommended! I bought it at duty free so the price was right, too.

      1. Apparently those two holes and detachable strap are worth an extra $65? The straps might also be thicker.

  2. What are the rules for wearing booties without tights? What colors are appropriate? Is there a certain shape that y’all think looks better? I have a maroon pair, a black pair, and one that looks like those old hiking boots from the 70s — sort of a camel color with red laces. Thoughts?

    1. I think a brown or taupe suede bootie with a slight western vibe looks good without tights. I also think a black leather bootie with cut-outs is fine without tights. Otherwise, I like tights.

    2. I also think it depends where you are. In a lot of places, it’s way too cold to wear booties without tights. But if you look at pictures of celebrities in LA, a lot of them wear booties without tights and it looks adorable.

    3. Yay!! I love this tote, Kat! Very cute! As for the OP,
They are fine as long as they are clean. I love spandex, but I’ve seen women with booties and fleece tights in NYC with men in close pursuit!

Myrna is getting some CHEDDER CHEEZE to go with her apple pie, but what about MY PUMKIN PIE? What does the hive suggest I put in to spice it up? Rosa said A few of Eds Freinds Will be there, so mabye one will want to MARRY me! YAY!!!!!

        1. Very few typos or misspelled words. I think you’re right.

          FOOEY on Ellen impersonators!!!

  3. any Sydney ladies on thissite? I’ve just relocated here and am looking for some kindred spirits, and fashion advice/shopping advice that isn’t US-seasons-and-shops-centric.

    1. I’m in Sydney! Welcome!! How are you finding it? Very happy to meet up for a coffee sometime if you’d like to! Just drop me a line at my gmail address (aprilmary at).

  4. The holiday cards I’d hoped to get started on over the holidays, the snow boots for upstate New York’s inevitable Thanksgiving snow, and the EZ-Pass I need for tonight’s 8 hour drive to upstate New York all arrived today, despite shipping estimates for all of them originally being next week.

    Everything’s coming up Milhouse!

  5. I wanted to buy a few clothing items for my niece for Xmas. She just turned 9 (?4th grade) and lives in the Bay Area. Any recs for things she can wear over leggings?

She seems to live in leggings. I don’t think I have seen her in a pair of pants/jeans in years. But honestly, the legging look is becoming a bit risque for her, as she wears them with short shirts and they are a bit too revealing…. So I was thinking of some more tunic/mini-dress like tops for her, but want to pick something that a 9 year old girl today might “like”.

    Any recs?

    1. Oshkosh, Old Navy, and Nordstrom all have cute tunics right now. I think Tea Collection’s dresses (both at Nordstrom and they have their own site) are really cute.

    2. Oshkosh, Old Navy, and Nordstrom all have cute tunics right now. I think Tea Collection’s dresses (both at Nordstrom and on their own) are really cute.

my other post ended up in moderation. . .

    3. we have bought clothes from Justice for my nieces. They are “trendy” and cute. Also, you can find more conservative stuff there if you look. Plenty of tunic shirts, sweaters and dresses.

      1. Thanks for this advice. I was scanning the other sites recommended but am having a hard time finding tops that are tunic length. They rarely show the tops on a “model” so I just can’t judge their style.

Never heard of Justice so thanks for this – I will check it out.

It is hard for me to judge what is appropriate for her age. She seems so young…

  6. Did anyone buy the Dagne Dover tote that was discussed here a few weeks ago? Thoughts?

  7. Just wondering if the bags get floppy when not fully stuffed. Am considering one for my international trips but don’t want a bag in which things get lost inside.

    1. yes, these bags are totally unstructured. still awesome, but just so you know, they do not have any structure unless full.

    2. I bought a zip-top tote from Eagle Creek for my recent international travel. Originally bought it as a secondary carry-on for coming home (assuming I’d shop), but I ended up using it when we were walking around, too. It was great for stowing snacks, a water bottle (it has pockets inside), a cardigan, an umbrella. And it was inexpensive. I did end up using it as a second carry-on to come home – it easily held my small cross-body.

    3. These are almost the only bags I use for international travel. I’ve experimented with other bags, and almost always regret it. The major benefits are that they are super lightweight and durable. It also doesn’t hurt that they are water resistant. I reduce the “black hole” problem by storing my stuff into multiple pouches within my bag. I usually use pencil cases or makeup bags, depending on what I’m carrying.

      1. Thanks so much for the replies. I now have some Black Friday shopping to do it looks like.

  8. I just read an interview with the costume designer on Suits (link to follow). Apparently Harvey is dressed by Tom Ford.

  9. for anyone wondering, the Board of Bar Examiners in IL decided to let the nursing mom have breaks for the bar exam

    1. Glad they did the right thing in the end. I hope the attention will make it easier on nursing mothers in the future, not that nursing + taking the bar will ever be easy.

  10. Still waiting for the day Longchamp lines these bags with a color other than black. I love my bag but I can’t find anything in there. Too dark.
