The Best Blazers for Women in 2025

The Best Overall Blazer for Women: J.Crew Madelyn

Best Overall Blazer of 2025: J.Crew

J.Crew's best selling blazer has been around for a while now — it's a classic, reliable style that comes out in new fabrics and prints each season. If you're hunting for something seasonal, such as tweed or linen, this would be our first stop.

It's worth noting that the blazer often has matching pants or skirts in the same fabric — so it's important to style it so that it's clear that you don't think you're wearing a suit. Your bottom choice, whether it's pants, skirts, or dress, should be significantly different from the fabric of the blazer. Classic mistake: Do not wear a black blazer with black pants unless they are intended to be worn together!

(As always, if you have multiple pieces of suiting in the same fabric and color, you should dry clean them all together so they wear evenly.)

The blazer is $198 and comes in petite, tall, and classic sizes 000-24. (Some colors are on flash sale right now to $149, so they may be down to lucky sizes, but keep checking — they'll be back.)

Another strong option from J.Crew is their Going Out blazer, which is collarless so it has a more streamlined look — it used to come in a bunch of different colors and fabrics but is down to basics at the moment.

The Best Affordable Blazer for Women: Cicy Bell

Best Affordable Blazer: Cicy Bell

This $50 blazer from Amazon seller Cicy Bell has been a reader favorite for a while now — it has 24,000+ good ratings, and comes in 21 colors in sizes XS-XXL. The list price is $71, but you can often find it on sale.

Nice things to note: It's fully lined, has functional flap pockets, and can be worn in a ton of different ways; readers note that it's “very stretchy” and not tight at all. As one reviewer notes: “Perfect for a corporate job! Single button and breathable. Definitely a must for an office wardrobe.”

Other affordable options include this other Amazon blazer, this Uniqlo blazer, and in general fast fashion stores like ASOS, H&M, Old Navy, and Target. Other reader favorites for affordable workwear, including blazers, include Nordstrom Rack and the Banana Republic Factory Store and the J.Crew Factory Store.

The Best Blazer for a Splurge: Smythe

Best Splurge Blazer: Smythe

If you want to splurge on a classic blazer, Smythe is at the top of our list — their blazers are known for being stylish, on-trend, investment pieces with meticulous tailoring. (It doesn't hurt that they're a favorite of Kate Middleton!)

Smythe blazers tend to be around $750, with some a bit more, some a bit less; they're available in sizes 2-16. You can find them for sale at spots like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and of course the Smythe website. (Their Wrap Blazer is also hugely popular if you want a double-breasted look!)

Other great options for splurgey statement blazers include McQueen, L'Agence, Veronica Beard, The Fold, Armani, and Anine Bing.

Best Plus-Size Blazer: Eloquii

black pants suit for women available up to size 32, from Eloquii
Best Plus-Size Blazer: Eloquii

There are a ton of great options (many of them affordable!) for plus sizes — our top pick here is Eloquii's Ultimate Stretch Suit Blazer. Yes, it usually has matching pants — and as we noted earlier, you shouldn't wear it as a separate unless its 100% clear that you intend to wear separates. But if you're on the hunt for a blazer in fun colors, or just a reliable blazer that goes with everything, this blazer has 600+ great reviews. It's available in sizes 14-32 for $99, but frequently on sale.

Other great options for plus-size blazers include Vince Camuto, Universal Standard, Nic & Zoe, and Talbots — and don't forget that a lot of blazers at J.Crew and J.Crew Factory are now available up to size 3X. If you're hunting for plus-size petites, Lands' End and Talbots are two of the most reliable stores we know of, but check out our full list of plus-size petite workwear here.

(Hunting for full suiting? Here's our full roundup of plus-size suits.)

Best Petite Blazer: Ann Taylor

Best Petite Blazer: Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor is one of the best places to shop if you're looking for petites — not only do they offer a broader range of sizes than most petites (00-18), they have curvy cuts as well if you prefer that for pants. Their Greenwich blazer is one of their options that's great as a separate — I particularly like this lightweight pique version that's perfect for summer.

Other great options for petite blazers for women: Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, Boden, White House | Black Market, and Reiss.

If you're hunting for petite suiting for women, we just updated our roundup — some of our favorites (in addition to Ann Taylor) include Banana Republic Factory, CK Calvin Klein, Hobbs, and J.Crew. If you're hunting for very small petite sizes, try Aritzia; if you're hunting for larger petite sizes, try Talbots or Lane Bryant. (We get into more subcategories and options here.)

Best Blazer for Tall Women: Long Tall Sally

Best Tall Blazer: Long Tall Sally

It can be tricky to find great blazers for women in tall sizes because so many spots only carry longer lengths in pants. So if you're looking for a blazer that fits you properly, your first step should definitely be to check out the selection at Long Tall Sally, which specializes in tall sizes for women.

We've pictured the boucle blazer here, but they have a bunch of colorful blazers in scuba, crepe, linen, and more. Prices are reasonable (most blazers are under $100!), and shipping is around $13, which isn't bad considering the brand is based in the UK.

There are a few more specialty stores of note if you're hunting for workwear for tall women, including Alloy Apparel, Amalli Talli, American Tall, and I Love Tall.

Other spots to look for tall blazers and other tall workwear include Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory, Boden, J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, J.Jill, Lands' End, and Loft.

Best Sweater Blazer: J.Crew Cecile

Best Sweater Blazer: M.M.LaFleur

There are so many great sweater jackets for the office it's almost hard to choose one, but two brands dominate the space: M.M.LaFleur and J.Crew. J.Crew has gotten our pick in the past because of the affordability and wide range of sweater jackets — cropped! collarless! fitted! loose! long! — but as of 2025 they seem low on a lot of stock. (Their sister site, J.Crew Factory, is another great source for trendy, affordable sweater jackets!)

M.M.LaFleur deserves top billing as well, though — after all, this is the brand that coined the phrase “jardigan,” i.e., cardigan jacket. Their first two styles, the Woolf and the Sant Ambroeus, are still going strong, and they've added a few more styles as well.

Other reader-favorite sweater jackets include Talbots, Anthropologie, Nic & Zoe, Quince, and Summersalt.

Best Plus-Size Sweater Blazer: LAUREN RALPH LAUREN

Best Plus-Size Sweater Blazer: Lauren Ralph Lauren

I recently saw one mid/plus-size TikToker note that you “shouldn't sleep on Talbots, y'all!” and I totally agree, especially for sweater blazers — every year they have some of the best options in regular, petite, plus, and plus-size petites.

Other great options for plus-size sweater blazers include Lauren Ralph Lauren, Nic & Zoe, Lands' End — and of course note that both J.Crew and J.Crew Factory's sweater blazers are available up to size 3X. Keep an eye on Talbots, also, they were the previous winner in this category!

Best Oversized Blazer for Women: Everlane

Best Oversized Blazer: Everlane

Everlane's '80s blazer has been really popular since the brand introduced it, and it now comes in a ton of different colors and fabrics. With three buttons and a decidedly slouchy, boxy look, it is very reminiscent of the '80s. It's $175, available in sizes 00-16.

Reviewers note that they “always get compliments on this blazer,” and that it's their “go-to summer blazer — beautifully made and such a cheerful jacket to wear.”

Other great options for that oversized, boyfriend-blazer look include Open Edit, Madewell and Favorite Daughter.

Best Wrinkle Resistant/Travel-Friendly Blazer for Women: Eddie Bauer Departure Blazer

navy blazer, white top, blue jeans and red belt
Best Wrinkle Resistant/Travel-Friendly: Eddie Bauer

It's a lot easier to find wrinkle-resistant, travel-friendly blazers than it used to be. If you're hunting for a casual blazer to add a layer of polish to business casual outfits or your travel wardrobe, it's hard to beat the Eddie Bauer Departures blazer.

It's available in petite, tall, and regular sizes 2-20. In addition to having a secure pocket, the brand notes that it's “The ultimate travel jacket, and an everyday classic, this unstructured, single-button blazer is a moisture-wicking stretch blend of polyester/spandex. The lightweight fabric packs easily, wears beautifully, and has built-in UPF sun protection.” Nice!

Other great options for travel-friendly blazers include Uniqlo, M.M.LaFleur, Talbots and Travelsmith.

If you're hunting for a full suit for business travel, some of our favorite travel-friendly suits for women include M.M.LaFleur, Ministry of Supply, Paul Smith, and Talbots. They have less reliable stock, but Brooks Brothers also occasionally has suiting in their BrooksCool line, and Uniqlo occasionally has suiting in their AirSense line.

Best Schoolboy Blazer for Women: J.Crew Factory

Best Schoolboy Blazer: J.Crew Factory

Shrunken, schoolboy blazers are less popular than they were a few years ago, but there's still at least one reliable source if this is your preferred look: J.Crew Factory. The brand keeps coming out with schoolboy blazers in new patterns and colors, and you can currently find the look in a shrunken sweater blazer look, as well!

The blazer is available in petite and classic sizes 00-24; full price is listed as being between $135-$195 but you can often find the blazer 40% (or more!) off.

Best Blazer for Summer: Uniqlo

Best Blazer for Summer: Uniqlo

If staying breezy is your top consideration, you have a few options: linen! pique! cupro! cotton! seersucker! The problem with most of these is that they wrinkle pretty much the second you put them on.

For that reason, you might want to consider more of the travel-friendly suiting instead, even though that may be more concerned with wrinkles than being lightweight. The Uniqlo AirSense jacket is both — it resists wrinkling, is incredibly lightweight, blocks UV rays, dries quickly, and is machine washable. Bonus: It's extremely affordable at $80, and available in three colors, sizes XXS-XXL.

If you are on the hunt for some of the other fabrics, this reader-favorite J.Crew blazer is available in linen, as is this super affordable Quince blazer, and this Ann Taylor jacket is in cotton pique. Madewell also has a number of tailored items in their Drapeweave fabric, which is a “soft TENCEL™ lyocell and linen twill,” and Brooks Brothers just reimagined a bunch of classics in a drapey, lightweight cupro blend.

Best Eco-Friendly Blazer: Theory

Best Eco-Friendly Blazer for Women: Theory

Wondering where to find eco-friendly suits for women? It can be really (really!) tricky to find some. Luckily, suiting stalwart Theory is here with their great line of Good Wool:

We are committed to making a positive impact on the people who wear our clothes, our industry, and our planet, beginning with our Good fabrics. Consciously manufactured from start to finish, our Good Wool is crafted with premium merino wool. It’s sourced from farms in Australia, including the Beaufront farm in Tasmania and woven by the Tollegno 1900 mill in Biella, Italy.

Nice!

Other spots that might have eco-friendly blazers for women include major brands like Boden, Eileen Fisher, L.K. Bennett, and Hobbs.

You can also check out smaller eco-friendly workwear brands like Aday, Amour Vert, Cuyana, Everlane, Emerson Fry, Grana, Reformation and Wallis Evera.

Other similar options for suiting include H&M (in their Conscious line), and NET-A-PORTER has some expensive options like Another Tomorrow in their NET SUSTAIN section.

Best Double-Breasted Blazer: Argent

Best Double-Breasted Blazer for Women: Argent

Double-breasted blazers for women are super trendy right now, and there are a few great ones. We're picking Argent as our top pick because they have so many great colors and slightly different cuts right now.

Argent, unfortunately, is on the higher end — the pictured blazer is $495. If you're hunting for something more affordable, Saint + Sofia should be on your radar; their best-selling double-breasted blazer is a slightly more affordable $280.

Madewell is another spot with trendy options for double-breasted blazers for women in regular and plus sizes. If you're hunting for a deal, ASOS, H&M, and Amazon are all good spots to check.

Best Cropped Blazer for Women: Abercrombie & Fitch

Best Cropped Blazer: Abercrombie & Fitch

Cropped blazers are a relatively new look, so know your office before wearing them — in the most conservative environments it's generally best to give a trend three to five years to get established before you wear it to work.

That said, they can be a great look for more casual offices and for off-duty looks — such as this cropped linen blazer and pleated shorts combo. Abercrombie has had a bunch of cropped blazers for a while now and in a number of different fabrics — crepe! linen! tweed! — and they even have short-sleeved versions for summer.

Most of the blazers are available in sizes XXS-XL, and are around $100 full price.

Best Maternity Blazer: Seraphine

Best Maternity Blazer: Seraphine

There are many pregnant women who can make it really, really far in their pregnancy before they need a dedicated blazer — for me that was around 38 weeks. Still, one of the few brands doing maternity workwear right is Seraphine. You can also find the line at Amazon and Nordstrom.

Other places to check for a good maternity blazer: ASOS, Figure 8 Maternity, and (sometimes) Angel Maternity and Tart. Do check out our latest roundup of the best maternity suits!

  1. I liked the prior smooth iterations of the Talbot’s merino wool knit blazer and I have three of them. But I ordered and returned the cabled version this year. I found it was just too bulky.

  2. Theory is far from eco-friendly. Eco-friendly fabrics are largely a myth, particularly in the fast fashion context – and Theory is 100% fast fashion. This post is super misleading on that front :-\

    1. When it comes to wool, I look for ZQ or RWS certification. It’s most important to me that the sheep producing the wool are not mulesed (butt skin cut off without anesthetic to prevent fly strike). Most wool comes from Australia but they still do not prohibit mulesing. New Zealand and some European countries do.
