J.Crew's best selling blazer has been around for a while now — it's a classic, reliable style that comes out in new fabrics and prints each season. If you're hunting for something seasonal, such as tweed or linen, this would be our first stop.

It's worth noting that the blazer often has matching pants or skirts in the same fabric — so it's important to style it so that it's clear that you don't think you're wearing a suit. Your bottom choice, whether it's pants, skirts, or dress, should be significantly different from the fabric of the blazer. Classic mistake: Do not wear a black blazer with black pants unless they are intended to be worn together!

(As always, if you have multiple pieces of suiting in the same fabric and color, you should dry clean them all together so they wear evenly.)

Nice things to note: It's fully lined, has functional flap pockets, and can be worn in a ton of different ways; readers note that it's “very stretchy” and not tight at all. As one reviewer notes: “Perfect for a corporate job! Single button and breathable. Definitely a must for an office wardrobe.”

Ann Taylor is one of the best places to shop if you're looking for petites — not only do they offer a broader range of sizes than most petites (00-18), they have curvy cuts as well if you prefer that for pants. Their Greenwich blazer is one of their options that's great as a separate — I particularly like this lightweight pique version that's perfect for summer.

It can be tricky to find great blazers for women in tall sizes because so many spots only carry longer lengths in pants. So if you're looking for a blazer that fits you properly, your first step should definitely be to check out the selection at Long Tall Sally, which specializes in tall sizes for women.

We've pictured the boucle blazer here, but they have a bunch of colorful blazers in scuba, crepe, linen, and more. Prices are reasonable (most blazers are under $100!), and shipping is around $13, which isn't bad considering the brand is based in the UK.

There are so many great sweater jackets for the office it's almost hard to choose one, but two brands dominate the space: M.M.LaFleur and J.Crew. J.Crew has gotten our pick in the past because of the affordability and wide range of sweater jackets — cropped! collarless! fitted! loose! long! — but as of 2025 they seem low on a lot of stock. (Their sister site, J.Crew Factory, is another great source for trendy, affordable sweater jackets!)

M.M.LaFleur deserves top billing as well, though — after all, this is the brand that coined the phrase “jardigan,” i.e., cardigan jacket. Their first two styles, the Woolf and the Sant Ambroeus, are still going strong, and they've added a few more styles as well.

Best Plus-Size Sweater Blazer: LAUREN RALPH LAUREN

I recently saw one mid/plus-size TikToker note that you “shouldn't sleep on Talbots, y'all!” and I totally agree, especially for sweater blazers — every year they have some of the best options in regular, petite, plus, and plus-size petites.

Best Oversized Blazer for Women: Everlane

Everlane's '80s blazer has been really popular since the brand introduced it, and it now comes in a ton of different colors and fabrics. With three buttons and a decidedly slouchy, boxy look, it is very reminiscent of the '80s. It's $175, available in sizes 00-16.

Reviewers note that they “always get compliments on this blazer,” and that it's their “go-to summer blazer — beautifully made and such a cheerful jacket to wear.”

Best Wrinkle Resistant/Travel-Friendly Blazer for Women: Eddie Bauer Departure Blazer

It's a lot easier to find wrinkle-resistant, travel-friendly blazers than it used to be. If you're hunting for a casual blazer to add a layer of polish to business casual outfits or your travel wardrobe, it's hard to beat the Eddie Bauer Departures blazer.

Best Schoolboy Blazer for Women: J.Crew Factory

Shrunken, schoolboy blazers are less popular than they were a few years ago, but there's still at least one reliable source if this is your preferred look: J.Crew Factory. The brand keeps coming out with schoolboy blazers in new patterns and colors, and you can currently find the look in a shrunken sweater blazer look, as well!

The blazer is available in petite and classic sizes 00-24; full price is listed as being between $135-$195 but you can often find the blazer 40% (or more!) off.

Best Blazer for Summer: Uniqlo

If staying breezy is your top consideration, you have a few options: linen! pique! cupro! cotton! seersucker! The problem with most of these is that they wrinkle pretty much the second you put them on.

For that reason, you might want to consider more of the travel-friendly suiting instead, even though that may be more concerned with wrinkles than being lightweight. The Uniqlo AirSense jacket is both — it resists wrinkling, is incredibly lightweight, blocks UV rays, dries quickly, and is machine washable. Bonus: It's extremely affordable at $80, and available in three colors, sizes XXS-XXL.

If you are on the hunt for some of the other fabrics, this reader-favorite J.Crew blazer is available in linen, as is this super affordable Quince blazer, and this Ann Taylor jacket is in cotton pique. Madewell also has a number of tailored items in their Drapeweave fabric, which is a “soft TENCEL™ lyocell and linen twill,” and Brooks Brothers just reimagined a bunch of classics in a drapey, lightweight cupro blend.

Best Eco-Friendly Blazer: Theory

Best Cropped Blazer for Women: Abercrombie & Fitch

Cropped blazers are a relatively new look, so know your office before wearing them — in the most conservative environments it's generally best to give a trend three to five years to get established before you wear it to work.

That said, they can be a great look for more casual offices and for off-duty looks — such as this cropped linen blazer and pleated shorts combo. There are many pregnant women who can make it really, really far in their pregnancy before they need a dedicated blazer — for me that was around 38 weeks. Still, one of the few brands doing maternity workwear right is Seraphine. You can also find the line at Amazon and Nordstrom.
