It can be hard to find workwear in tall sizes — many big brands don't seem to consider women over 5'8″! — so today we're sharing the best stores for tall women. When you're short like me, it's usually easy to have a tailor shorten pants, sleeves, etc., on clothing that doesn't come in petite sizes (although it's not ideal), but when you're tall, the solution isn't that simple.
It's been quite a while since we last talked about tall workwear in general (although we've shared suits for tall women and bespoke dresses for the office), so let's discuss.

Is there a trick for covering just a few grays? I don’t want to dye my whole head but am getting random strays all along my hairline framing my face that I would like to disappear.
Smokey
Depending on your hair color, your hair stylist may be able to “paint” the greys do that they look like highlights. I think the techniques is called bayalage.
Pantsless
Has anyone complied a list of stores for tall slim women? Does something in this long list above work?
A problem I have is that tall brands or tall sizes are just not offered in my size, or the tall/long is not long enough. I can usually find dresses/skirts that are OK in regular sizes, or I wear a below the knee or midi style shorter than intended and it works. But pants are an absolute no go. If you know where I can find the holy grail (24 x 38 or longer (40??) pants), please share. The only pants/jeans I own I have had custom made. (I’m 6’1″ and have a very short torso.)

Long Tall Sally has a 38 inseam on many pants. They only go down to size 4 (XS) which is a 25 1/2 waist but it might work for you if you went with style that have a skinny fit and had the waist taken in a little.

I think what you need is stores for “extra tall” women. I’m 5’10” and a size 2 so definitely tall and slim and many of the stores listed above work for me. But I don’t need a 40″ inseam and inseam has nothing to do with weight.
Mpls
The OP might be talking about the fact that many places that do offer Tall sizes start with a Medium. It can be harder to find Tall-Small or Tall-XS than it is to find Tall-Medium and Tall-Large. I think this is worse for Men’s sizes (I have a brother who could have used a Tall-Small, and it was impossible to find), than women’s though.
Good luck on the 40″ inseam. Your best bet might be looking for places that sell pants unhemmed (Lands End used to, maybe still does) but I don’t know how common that is.

There’s a store in Hamburg called “I love tall” which starts lengths at 36″. I went in person and was (at 6′) the shortest person and found nothing to wear. Link to follow

Nice shop!

Myrna has. I will ask her to post her list for you. She is tall and skinny. Dad says she looks like a tall (but cute) giraffe, so if you look like her, and like her look, Dad thinks you will also like her clotheing. YAY!!
Tall Woman Wearing Heels
Alloy Apparel might also be worth looking at–they go up to a 39-inch inseam and seem to have plenty of small sizes in stock.
Ses
This German store does 38” inseam off the rack. First time I’ve ever been too short for a store.

Well… points for consistency I guess. I didn’t realise this was a recycled comment section and reposted the same recommendation 3 years later. Sorry for unintentional double post!

Great feature! Put a few new stores on my radar.
NYNY
It’s high-end, so not everyone’s budget and likely no one’s everyday budget, but Escada seems to be designed for very tall women. Every time I’ve tried on a jacket or dress, the armpits are almost at my waist! I’m a short-waisted 5’4″ for reference.
Aminat
I’m with “Pantsless” on this one. Except, I’m tall and plus size. I wear a 22/24 and have a 34″ inseam. Any suggestions for those us? Lane Bryant’s pants are a fabric/structural nightmare. Also can any list of resources for tall women be complete without a listing for shoe brands that carry sizes 10 -13+ ? Any and all help welcome!
Alana
Not a brand, but Nordstrom (and Nordstrom Rack for those on a budget) has a decent selection of shoes sizes 10 and up. I think they even have special sales for both large and small women’s shoes (not sure if at the same time).

Some other tall shops:
Next (Next.co.uk) ships to the US and has tall womens wear, including work wear and suits.
Wallis (wallisfashion.com) has tall womens clothing, including some work appropriate dresses and nice dress coats.
Miss G and Me (missgandme.co.au) is an Australian tall womens fashion brand. They have high quality blouses and trousers and ship internationally.
Anthropologie actually has talls (online only), but they don’t advertise it well. Filter the “size type” to tall and you’ll find about 100 items, mostly trousers and jumpsuits in longer lengths.
Pendleton used to make tall womens wool suits. They stopped a few years ago, but you can still find some of their tall items on ebay and Poshmark, etc. I’ve gotten at least 2 blazers and a suit this way.
In my experience, DVF, Mango, COS, and Hugo Boss all run slightly long and can fit a tall frame.
For large size shoes, I would also recommend looking into Otto+Ivy, Low Heels (lowheels.co.uk), Tresolz, Cinderella Shoes (for lots of European brands in larger sizes), and Poppy Barley for made-to-measure shoes.
