We're loving this cool pendant necklace from Amy DiGregorio — the bone ring (1″ in diameter) is hip and interesting, but could be right at home with a buttoned blouse. It would stand out the most against dark skin, and be a statement piece — we also like it with pale skin, though, because it would almost disappear, making it one of those details that only those close to you would notice. It's on sale at Couture Candy — was $108, now $54 (with an additional 15% off with code LOVE). Amy DiGregorio Foster Necklace in Gold

I like this enormously. Would like it more if it were 14K. But that’s just me. It is a nice secret detail, as you point out.
Kay
Lovely!
CM
I have no idea why a slice of a mammal’s bone would be nice to have on your neck. It looks just like something I would give my dog to chew on.
Legally Blonde
I agree! Ick!
ceb
agreed . . . creeped me out.
Shayna
Ditto — And being on the extremely pale end of the skin tone spectrum, having something that disappears into a bump on my neck is not attractive… at all.
RKS
I actually didn’t mind it until I looked at the second picture, on the model. Very, very clear it’s a bone there and definitely creepy.
jcb
I really like it! Pretty.
Anyone found a good cold medicine for daytime? Nyquil is my hero at bedtime, but Dayquil makes me loopy. Zicam is great for keeping the cold at bay somewhat, but it does not entirely do the trick symptom-wise. Sudafed didn’t seem to have much of an effect whatsoever.
And no, I am not wandering the halls spreading germs, I am barricaded in my office and obsessively using hand sanitizer. This is not the flu, let alone H1N1, it is just a cold, and yes, if I had a choice I would have stayed in bed, but as it turns out no one really cares that I have a cold and the work goes on …
Erin
Have you ever tried homeopathics? It sounds a little new-agey but I swear they work better than any “conventional” medicine I have ever tried for cold/sinus/sore throat troubles (have not tried the flu one yet). I want to say that the brand name is Boiron and the cold one is called Cold Calm. It is amazing what this will do to get rid of your cold. You dissolve two of the bland tasting tablets on your tongue every 15 minutes for 2 hours and then 2 every 2 hours after that. If you follow the instructions your cold will be drastically reduced the next day–at least in my experience (twice this has worked like a charm for me!). I became a convert while living in France where homeopathics have been mainstream for some time. The little sinus and sore throat pills are great too!
Lucy
Second. I would supplement the cold calm with another Boiron med — Oscillocosynum (sic). This coupled with yogi brand tea (check vitamin shop or any health food store) does wonders (the yogi teas come in different purposes depending on what ails you — e.g., breathe deep for sore throats, etc., very self explanatory. I get a cold sampler pack and mix and match 2 tea bags at a time).
ARinFL
Yes! Yogi teas are awesome. So are Traditional Medicinals teas.
Delta Sierra
Try Actifed with real pseudoephedrine in it, in the U.S. you have to ask for it specifically and sign for it and all that at the counter. Only thing that works for me.
Shayna
That’s the good stuff ;-) Basically, if you don’t have to get it over the counter with your driver’s license et. al., it’s just cherry flavored menthol placibo
KLo
The ONLY thing I can use is Thera Flu thin strips which must be ordered online from drugstore.com. I have a REALLY hard time with cold meds.
NYCAtty
Lots and lots of tea and Afrin (or similar) decongestant nasal spray to alleviate congestion. It’s the only thing that lets me breathe when I have a cold.
Shayna
Yes – the nasal spray is amazing – I’m not sure how it works, and I don’t care – it does work! Make sure you get an extra if you live with anyone else, since this is not a share item!
MelD
Sinus rinse/neti pot should work as well as long as you aren’t completely congested. During the allergy season (now), even Sudafed isn’t always effective, but the sinus rinse will give me some relief.
jojo
YES Team Neti!
Eponine
I take Tylenol Sinus daytime formula. It has the same decongestant as Dayquil, plus Tylenol, but does not have the cough medicine. Apparently it’s the cough medicine that makes me loopy, because Tylenol Sinus works great for me.
mm
Second the recommendations for Tylenol Sinus/Cold–effective relief but none of the fuzzy-head effects of Dayquil, Nyquil, or Sudafed. Also, REALLY recommend the neti pot; it sounds a little strange at first, but I’ve been using it daily for about a month now, and can notice a difference. The drug store (or drugstore.com) sells both the neti pot and little packets of salt and baking soda for the rinse.
MelD
I’ve been using the sinus rinse for over a year now and have only gotten one cold during that time- after a week on vacation where I didn’t use it.
I hate Tylenol Sinus, but I can’t really take anything with acetaminophen. For many people that’s what causes the problems- I know it makes my heart race and does other unpleasant things. I have problems with sudafed too, but the two together are just a nightmare.
KZ
I switched to tylenol cold because nyquil and dayquil both made me loopy or gave me really bizarre dreams, and it seems fairly effective without the crazy medicine effects. I also eat clementines or oranges almost continually when sick. Go vitamin C!
divaliscious11
I use dayquil caplets, but only take one caplet instead of the 2 caplet dosage. Two make me loopy, but one clears me up enought to function more or less properly.
jcb
Thanks for all the suggestions! I am heading to the pharmacy at lunch to stock up.
Delta Sierra
I don’t like this either. Ick.
GR
Very unique – I like.

I can’t imagine why anyone would would wear a piece of bone around their neck to work or for play. Even if you do not think it is gross, your acquaintances will. You can get so many beautiful cheap necklaces at Target that are in good taste, too – so why thin?
Filling yourself up with OTC meds may feel good now, but OMG you are probably ruining your health for later on! If your nose is running, carry a tissue. If your throat is really sore, you may have something that is nasty and contagious and you should try to stay home.
Blonde Lawyer
I’m curious what long term health problems you think you can get from cold medicine.
3L
Dr. Oz just covered this topic this morning (I had a late class so I tuned in by chance). He explained the perils of OTC meds in this video: http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/tuesdays-ask-dr-oz (applies despite the crazy lady who asked the Q, saying she has taken over 100,000 otc pain pills)
BethInNY
isn’t that true of anything, your body can get used to it over time (was that his only point? I couldn’t listen to the whole video), but what else are you supposed to do if you can’t occasionally take an advil, or sudafed for a cold? It’s silly to suffer when we have reasonably safe modern medicines out there that you can take on a temporary basis to relieve pain. I think the problems only start when people start overdoing it, but that’s the same as with anything (e.g. food, alcohol), and cutting out something entirely doesn’t seem to be the solution.
Btw I recommend Sudafed w/ pseudoephedrine for colds, it shouldn’t make you loopy at all but if anything give you a slight energy boost, and should relieve all the congestion.
jcb
Sounds like you haven’t had a bad cold in a while. Can’t sleep, up coughing all night, can’t breathe, sinus headache, stuffy head, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, aching. Just like the Nyquil commercial. OMG I think will take my chances with some cold meds for a week or so. A tissue really isn’t going to cut it.

Not to insert a completely random question in the thread, but I saw a question on the weekend thread and have a similar dilemma. I’m currently surfing the choppy waters of the job market and applied to a position I saw posted on Craigs List. Typically it takes a few days for any response to these postions, but the employer responded within a few hours with the following “I’ll give you 10 minutes on Wednesday. Call my secretary in the morning to schedule your interview.” I find this immediately sketchy and am not sure if this is an interview situation I should put myself in. Any thoughts/suggestions/similar experiences? Thanks so much!
NYCAtty
I would not schedule an interview based on that email. When something doesn’t sound right, it usually isn’t. If you do decide to go, make sure the address is an office, and bring a friend to wait for you outside.
3L
I would guess that it’s a small place with a self-important owner. It’s not really an employee’s market, so I would check it out but be cautious and ask many searching questions.
mkm
Even if the employer himself is legit, which is 100% questionable at this point, the tone of that e-mail sounds like someone for whom I personally would be VERY unhappy working. It definitely is not an employee’s market, to be sure. That said, I’ve found it best to enter only into situations in which I could stay for a while, and which would be a lasting benefit to me professionally. This doesn’t seem like one such place, and your time may be better (and, who knows, more safely) spent sending your resume to less snippy/shady recipients. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!!
divaliscious11
How can you make that assessment from that response? I say what is 10 minutes of your time if you are unemployed. What if it was a solo or small firm and the attorney was running out the door to a hearing, and is looking for someone to come in and help out? Depending on what the OP wants to do, it could be an amazing opportunity to actually get some hands on experience. Nearly all of my litigator friends complain that at big/medium law, all they did was tote boxes and research the first 3-4 years.
michelle
perhaps he meant phone interview? I would do a phone interview on those terms but wouldn’t travel to someplace potentially sketchy, particularly if there wasn’t a clear position description and resume exchange (which I assume is the case if it was based on a Craigs List posting). Totally agree the poster sounds like a jerk and not someone you are likely to want to work for, but I’d get more info if possible.
Shayna
I would Google the employer, drive by the office to make sure it exists… Did the job listing sound like a legitimate one? Or was it a one sentence with typos? Sometimes you have to go with your gut, but I would at least investigate whether it’s a possibility that you caught the owner on a bad day…
Katie
Thanks for the advice ladies! I did google the employer and also asked some mentors who have more contacts about the employer and discovered that the office does exist and the employer is well established. I decided to go ahead and schedule the interview but have low expectations.
Shayna
Good luck! Worst case scenario, you lose an hour and get to see what someone else’s version of office decor looks like
RoadWarriorette
I agree that this guy kind of sounds like a jerk, but I will say that I found my current position (with a very reputable, well known, high-performing software company) on Craigslist, and I have been here almost four years.
divaliscious11
I guess I don’t immediately define lawyers as jerks when they say I have X amount of time to see you on X day, call my secretary to set it up. I assume they are swamped and may be on a tight schedule, and if I were looking for a job, I’d be there ready to present the best of me in 10 minutes or less….
BethInNY
Anyone know when the next sale will be at AT Loft.com? (They seem to run 20-30% sales every so often and I have stuff sitting in my cart..)
BethInNY
Anyone happen to know when AT/AT Loft will be doing another online sale? (someone here last week knew of the BR sale in advance (thanks to whoever that was!), so I was hoping someone similarly has the inside scoop on AT…)

Try the code 30MORE until April 7 for 30% off an order of $100 or more. It worked for me last week.
Legally Blonde
I think the Spring Fashion Sale is still happening. So 25% off 2 full price pieces and 40% off three full price pieces.
Kez
The Spring Fashion sale ended March 22.
BethInNY
thanks all.
