I am here to tell you these are the best jeans I have ever owned. I could not love them more.

J Crew toothpick jeans look very similar at less than half the price. FYI for anyone who likes this look but can’t spend this much.

ditto. literally wearing them right now

Not liking the new design on mobile…
Anonymous
Agreed. The comments are huge and it makes scrolling through really time-consuming.
Anon
Have to disagree. The comments on the old site we’re tiny and hard to navigate on my phone. I was constantly having to zoom and it made it hard to follow nested threads. New version is much better visually on my mobile device.

Agreed. I don’t like the redesign on the mobile. I used to read as “desktop display” on my mobile and could efficiently browse posts to see if I wanted to open them up and read more. Now I have to open up each post to get a better idea of what the posts are about. Very annoying and time consuming.

We’re looking into making comment font size sliiightly smaller. Re the excerpts on the home page – that’s going to be a new skill to learn. Which posts do you want longer excerpts for, the substantive articles on career/fashion/lifestyle (breadwinners, shampoo, etc) or the workwear reports or coffee break posts (brand, price)?
Meara
I don’t need the font to be smaller, especially, but the spacing between lines and between name of commenter, comment, and end of comment is HUGE, which is a bit irksome.

Congratulations on the new design, Kat! It’s beautiful on iPad.

Nope, not me. I still like my low-rise jeans. My favorite jeans are low-rise boyfriend. Bootcut from a few years back are even better.
Mineallmine
Yeah, high rise anything consistently makes me look pregnant. It’s just my body shape – I’m actually slim waisted, but I must be too short torsoed or something. I just hope this current trend of many options for waist and leg types continues! Medium rise straight legs 4ever!
CA politics?
Any recommendations for podcasts on California statewide politics?

For Northern California, I like some of the programming by KQED, the public radio station. They do a short “California Report” and some in depth discussion on shows like Forum (which isn’t limited to just California topics).
Katja
I like my jeans to not be effectively leggings. Straight cut legs please.
Anon
+1 to that. Why bother with the zipper on a pair of leggings.

Redesign looks great. I read on my phone and it’s a lot easier for me. The Expand/Collapse feature is working for me.

Love the Expand/collapse all threaded comments! Love the redesign on both mobile and web!!

I’m sure this has been discussed at length on the moms’ s!te but it looks like it’s still in maintenance mode. For those of you with kids in daycare, what backup childcare do you use?
Background info: 2 kids under 4, both in daycare/preschool from ~8-5:30. Small city, virtually no commute. DH’s job is not really flexible but is generally understanding of kiddos occasionally getting sick, having dentist appointments, etc. Until now we’ve managed to take turns covering sick days and late nights, but I’m about to move to a BigLaw position that will be much more demanding than my current situation. I think we need to level up our childcare, but I’m not really sure what that looks like. Would love to hear what arrangements others have found to be successful.
Emma
My husbands big law job had emergency nannies/sites available a certain amount of times a year as a perk (we never used it as he left just when our kid was born). We use our former nannyshare family as long as my daughter isn’t super sick.
Anna
We have a babysitter on call who is actually a previous neighbor and also a mom. She works part time but picks up and drops off her kids every day and is usually available on short notice. We pay her generously every time so I don’t feel guilty. Not always available but at least it is one more option. We have no family in town.
Many daycare teachers and preschool teachers also babysits and will take your kids home or whatever is needed.
