It's time for another installment featuring smaller workwear brands to know about — and it's been a while since we looked at eco-friendly clothes to wear to work. So today, let's do the independent, affordable, and eco-friendly brands Saint + Sofia, Sonderlier, and Vetta. (Vetta at least has been around since 2016, so it's not necessarily “new,” but it's new to me!)
If you have a new-to-you/smaller brand you’ve bought from and would like to recommend, let us know!

Saint + Sofia
Some of Saint + Sofia's bestsellers, above: gray pants / blazer / pants with buttons
Saint + Sofia is a British brand focusing on sustainability. It's nice that their styles come in sizes 2-18; so many indies stop their sizes somewhere in the 10-14 range. A lot of the pieces are available in multiple colors; note that their bestselling blazer, above, comes in about 10 colors. Full prices are $80-$350, but do note that many of their bestsellers seem to be on sale at the moment.
More about the brand from their website:
Saint and Sofia is based in London, England creating fashion and accessories that are fair and sustainable. We believe in challenging the status quo; fusing the art of design with the science of production. We design all of our styles in our London studios and make them exclusively in Europe with family-owned factories that we control.
If you're in the U.S., they offer free standard shipping on orders $75+, and have a 28-day refund guarantee.
Sonderlier
Sonderlier bestsellers: pants / dress / skirt (with zippered pocket)
Sonderlier has a small collection; it was recently started by a former professor of engineering. She notes on the website that she created the brand out of frustration that all your “cute clothes” are collecting dust in the closet waiting for a special occasion, while your daily comfy pieces leave you feeling frumpy and bored. They go on to note:
We love elegant silhouettes, and we also love comfort and versatility. In our collection, you will find timeless pieces that have multiple ways to wear, and are so comfortable that you can literally sleep in them. Truly, dressing well has never felt better.
The brand is made with eco-friendly materials in the U.S.A.; prices for most pieces are under $200.
For U.S. buyers, they offer free shipping for orders over $150, and $8 otherwise. They have a 14-day period for return or exchange.
Vetta
Vetta bestsellers: blazer / blouse / dress
Vetta is a brand that has an intriguing concept: Each piece can be worn at least two ways. (We've pictured Option A above; we're showing the same pieces in their transformed version below.)
(The brand's satin skirt is featured at the top of the post; it reverses to a different print.)
Specifically, the company notes, “We create versatile capsule collections of 5 items that make 30 different outfits. Made with you and the planet in mind.” Nice! (They offer a quiz so you can figure out which capsule might suit you best, and a lot of the capsules are on sale right now.)
More details about Vetta:
We're committed to sustainable fabrics and responsible factories. Our woven clothing is made in a family run factory in NYC, where many of the employees have worked there together for over 30 years – and we visit often. Our sweaters are knitted by our partner factory in Los Angeles that is audited annually for social and environmental compliance – and gets 70% of it's energy from solar power!
The brand comes in sizes XS-XL; most pieces are under $200, but you can get all five pieces in the classic capsule collection for $538 with a special code. (The brand has been around since 2016 so it isn't terribly new, but we haven't featured it before.)
The brand does not have any brick-and-mortar stores but offers free U.S. shipping and a 30-day return window.
Readers, have you tried any of these affordable and eco-friendly workwear brands? What are your thoughts?

Hmm the apartment pant for Saint + Sofia details section describes “a luxury cable-knit vest…” Hmmm
MM
I ordered the Apartment and Runway pants from Saint + Sofia last month and I’m less than impressed. They fit great (which was a godsend as a petite woman who has a hard time finding 28” inseams) but they pilled horribly after one wash. I’ll probably wear them around the house or for errands but they are done for work wear after only two wears. Very disappointing.
