Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Piperlime is having a one-day sale — take 20% off any regular (not final) sale items. We like these simple black trousers from BCBGMAXAZRIA which, amazingly, are still available in sizes 2-10. We like the viscose/wool/spandex mix (the spandex can be so important for comfort, mais oui?) and the slight flare below the knee. Formerly $196, now $144, with the price dropping to $116 with the code TREAT4ME (with free shipping both ways). Cute pants. The description doesn’t say anything about a lining, not even in the fabric content. I am assuming these are lined (esp. with the wool blend fabric) but I have been burned before in ordering on an assumption. Does anybody know for sure?
s-k-s
I’ve seen a lot of unlined BCBG pants out there, actually.
kate
I have these and wear them constantly, summer, winter, fall, spring… at least once a week. Bought an extra pair. I’m 5’9″ and the length is perfect. I usually wear a 4 or a 6 and wear a 6 in these.

Are they lined or unlined? Thanks!
Clerky
These look great. Kate, do you think this would look good on pear shapes? I’m a small pear, about a size 4/6. I’m concerned that they may be too slim in the thigh area for me.

Does anyone know how BCBG runs, in terms of size? I had a pair of pants from them ages ago, when I was more like a size 4, that were an 8, and now I’m more like a 6, so I’m wondering if I should buy the 10?

So, my sort of new dressing philosophy for the new year is to keep it easy, which this site has helped me with a ton. So, I poked around for an affordable pair of ponte black pants, and picked up a pair at Old Navy.com. They come in long AND tall sizes (and the petite and regular sizes as well). I’m 5’10”, so Ipicked up the long (the tall is like 36″ inseam), and am wearing them today. They’re a terrific length and seemingly nice quality fabric (I’ll just gentle wash in woolite dark).

Clerky- I am a pear and have a few BCBG pants. They are not too tight in the thigh, but I’d avoid any with pockets.
RZS- I’d go up one size for pants. I am typically a size 4 and a size 6 pants fit me perfectly. If you’re thinking of buying a skirt, I’ve found it’s hit or miss. Sometimes the size 4 is a little too big and other times it’s too tight.

Hmm. I’m a size 4/6 with “junk in the trunk” and I RUN from slim-fit…
Clerky
Right, I hear you. That’s why I was wondering whether they would look good on me.

I desperately need dress pants, but the slim fit worries me too – I just had to return a BCBG holiday skirt where the Large was too big and the Medium too small. I’ve also given up on finding lined pants any more. Even what I consider pricier brands don’t have lining. So I just wear my long Spanx, especially when it is freezing as it is this week, even here in the South!
TallTexGirl – can you put up the link for the Old Navy pants? they sound promising, even though I am only average height.
TallTexGrl
Here’s the link for the ponte trousers. They were very comfy all day, never wrinkled of course, and will get a lot of use (until they inevitably wear out!).

I am also a pear, and love my BCBG pant suit. The pants are quite low and slim in the hips, but somehow they’re flattering.

I have yet to find any BCBG pants that are fully lined. Haven’t tried these exact ones, but if anyone is going to take the plunge based on an assumption, I’d assume they’re unlined or, at most, lined only to the mid-thigh.

This might be a very dumb question, but as I’ve never encountered pants lined only to mid-thigh: wouldn’t that be (a) terribly uncomfortable or (b) potentially visible (even if pants not too tight) due to nature of the fabric?
MelD
I have one partially lined pair to just above the knee on a wide leg tweed trouser. I think that type of trouser just isn’t comfortable on the bare leg so some type of lining is necessary to make it wearable. The fabric is pretty heavy on its own though so the lining will not show.
