    1. I think this and the comment about the First Lady being repulsive are both trolls. They are so out of the line of ordinary thinking. The fact that the repulsive comment said, “Really?” about someone liking Michelle Obama — there’s no reason to be surprised. Everyone knows she is really well liked, even if you personally don’t like her. It was definitely a troll.

      1. I agree that the person who said that is a troll and that it was a stupid comment for this site and the discussion here, but please don’t mistake what people in your circle think for her being well liked. There are definitely a lot of people who dislike her for a lot of different reasons (some legitimate, some not). As is the case for most political figures.

        1. Er, I mean well liked in the sense that it would be unthinkable for someone to say something negative about her, not well liked in the sense that more than 50% of the country has a favorable view of her or something like that (I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I imagine that it usually is for first ladies).

          1. I’m actually a Republican and don’t really like her. I’m just saying that no one finds it surprising that one person on a blog says she really likes her. You know what I mean?

          2. THIS.
I responded to the comment because it is one thing to say I completely disagree with her political ideology, it is wholly different to say you find her repulsive. It is perfectly normal to have ideological differences, something altogether different to be repulsed by a person who has not done some obviously horrific act that makes you question their humanity. I am a card carrying and financially contributing member of the Democratic Party, and while I didn’t agree with the policies being advocated in Ann Romney’s speech, I don’t hate her, am not repulsed by her and find quite a bit about her personally quite interesting.

          3. I dunno, I was pretty repulsed by Sarah Palin. But she was an actual Veep candidate, not a candidate’s spouse.

    2. Sigh. Cantorette (and anyone else who has maligned Lisa in the past) — I know this woman, and I read her blog, and I’ve never seen or heard anything that says “white supremacist.” This is a very serious allegation, and frankly it pisses me off royally that you make it so casually. Please provide me a direct link to anything she’s said on her blog that you think insinuates she is a “white supremacist.” People who comment making serious, baseless accusations such as this will find themselves in the moderation queue from here on out. THANKS.

      1. Good for you, Kat. Your moderation is one of the things that keeps this blog respectable.

      2. I actually just spent 30 minutes on her blog this past weekend for the first time, and thought it was fascinating and very well-written. Maybe a bit classist, but that’s rather obvious from the title, and not racist in the tiniest bit.

        1. Ditto. I read her blog regularly, and it’s never struck me as anything sinister.

      3. While I vehemently disagree with the assertion that Lisa is racist, I do think at some point she had some language on her blog, that is read alone, and without further review, could suggest not quite racism, but perhaps some prejudice. There used to a characterization of the WASP aesthetic as both aspirational and not necessarily attainable by all, versus what she has more clearly articulated as a prism by which she views her individual expression, or merely an archetype. But if you read beyond that statement, it was more than clear that wasn’t her intention, and I do think she updated it.
