Shetland Wool Plaid Skirt This time of the year is always a great time to stock up on classic, timeless items that are now on deep discount simply because the weather is getting warmer. Take this skirt, for example: it’s never going to be an exciting skirt, but it’s made of good materials (Shetland wool, lined in Bemberg), and is a flattering A-line cut — the kind of thing you’ll wear for probably as long as it fits you. It was $168 at Brooks Brothers — but it’s currently marked down to $67.20 (sizes 6-16 still available).

6pm is having some great sales on women’s designer clothes — tons of brands like Ports 1961, Joie, and more. There isn’t much in the “under $50″ category (which is what the Friday TPS usually is), but I like this simple jersey knit from Elie Tahari. The twist details are high up on the neck, and I can see this being a great basic beneath a caridgan or even a blazer. It’s available in seafrost (pictured) and black in limited sizes — was $118, now $38.50.  Elie Tahari – Madra Knit (Seafrost) – Apparel

Pour La Victoire - Prixie (Dark Magenta Patent) - FootwearWow – some great deals on this magenta pump from Pour La Victoire, which I’ve long admired (and am actually surprised I haven’t posted before).  I like the little ribbon detail on the vamp, the reasonable 2.5″ heel, and the high comfort ratings.  I’m always a fan of a purple pump (great for navy, black, gray, and generally a flattering color to your legs if worn with a skirt), but there are also sales going on this exact shoe in red (at Endless for $85), and in gray and navy (at Zappos for $136-$156, limited sizes only).  At Endless, it’s also available in black for just under full price – $185 rather than $195.  The magenta (pictured) is $105 at Zappos, and $85 at Endless.

Update: They’re also on sale at Amazon!  The magenta and red are both $78, the black is $95, and the navy is $124.

L' AUTRE CHOSE BlazericonI’ve had a thing for green blazers lately, and this wool one is no exception. I like the slightly different fabric on the lapels, as well as the pockets, and I think the single button (while high) could be flattering. I’d wear it with gray or navy trousers, and perhaps throw in a pop of yellow somewhere , even if it were just a shiny gold necklace. It’s now $130 at Yoox (was $290), limited sizes only. I actually bought this purse sometime last fall — it marks my first yellow purse. I like it a lot — it’s surprisingly big, and the leather has a nice, soft, worn look to it, which helps offset some of the shock of carrying a yellow purse.  I love wearing it with grays, as well as with other colors — a cobalt scarf, a pair of red shoes, etc. The Outnet actually has a bunch of BCBGicon bags on sale right now, and this one is an even better deal than what I got — it was $348, now marked to $139.20. AK Anne Klein Poppin Kitten heels are either the “hot new trend” or the “classic that’s back in style,” depending on your point of view. Personally, I love kitten heels for the office, particularly with pants — with a low enough heel, you can even wear the same pants you wear with flats. Anne Klein has a number of shoes on sale today, including this fabric-covered kitten heel with a fun button detail on the toe. It’s available in the black fabric as well as a bronze — was $79.99, now $49.99. Poppin Kitten Heel
