Some DIY Options for Gaping Blouses

Mind the Gap

Button-down blouses can be great — if they fit and don’t gape in the bust. Some companies specialize in non-gaping dress shirts for women but maybe you just want a DIY fix for one you’ve already got.

We've been there. Nothing breaks a professional look more than a bra peeking out of your button-down shirt. So we test drove some DIY solutions for you!

Tried & True

This seems the most professional. I found it pretty straightforward. Just lightly tack the gap closed with an x-shaped stitch. It is a little time consuming, though.

Option #1 Sewing

Option #2 Taping

This option seems like the easiest one. Just use Hollywood fashion tape to lock down the gap. While it did work, I found myself having to restick my shirt together throughout the day.

I've always hated the silver, tell-tale glint of a safety pin in my shirt. That was until I found black and white ones. Easy, and no one can see them!

Option #3 Pinning

We'd love to hear what you do to fix your gaping shirts. Whether it's a DIY option or a trick up your sleeve, we'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment on our website!
