TJ inspired by previous post TJ:
There was a discussion about how you identify yourself when you pick up the phone on one of the posts Kat linked above. I’m hoping for your advice.
I am generally a believer in “This is Jane Smith” or other full-name option, but my full name is 8 syllables. Like “This is Felicity Duncan-Dubois” which takes like 20 minutes to get out. Should I just muster through or is “This is Felicity” Ok in your book? Of course, when I’m calling people I use my full name.
Thank you *ttes!

This is in NGDGTCO. I struggle with it too – my whole name is so long. If I say “Suzy Smith” it’s the same length as “This is Suzy” but it feels awkward saying just my name and it feels awkward saying my whole name.

What about just first name and last (no “This is”)? That’s what I do. I’ve heard our upper management use the same.

I think this is the right answer. I just have to get used to actually doing it.
